You need to get the front end checked out. It sounds like you have some worn parts under there. like tie rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm or maybe ball joints. While not life threatening it will become worse and could become dangerous. These are easily repairable but it needs to be done soon. Hope this helps.

What causes my 2-wheel drive ranger to vibrate hard when I turn the steering wheel at low speeds only, like pulling out of garage? also does it in reverse. makes a noise near the rear when it is vibra

i would say it is a solenoid or air in the power steering lines but you would have to put a obd2 scanner and see what it says.
if i remember correct bleeding is as simple as removing the power steering cap and turning steering all the way left hold for 5 seconds then right and hold but you will need to look at oil in reservoir and see if it is bubbling while turning and holding. you will need a helper and if it is do this for 5-10 minutes.

Battery disonn.folly 110. "under collateral damage"

quote
Whenever the negative battery cable is disconnected the following components will require resetting. The Idle Air Volume Learning, Steering Angle Sensor Neutral Position, Sunroof Memory Reset/Initialization, Automatic Drive Positioner System, Audio presets and Navigation. Use the CONSULT-III diagnostic tool, or equivalent to perform the required resets. As necessary, refer to Battery Reconnect/Relearn Procedures.
he automatic back door system, if equipped, must be initialized anytime the battery has been disconnected. Close the back door. Open the back door with the automatic open feature. Do not stop the process until the back door opens completely.
end .

begin:
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (wait 30min)
  2. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  3. Set the front wheels in the straight-ahead position.
  4. Remove the air bag module.

  1. Remove the steering wheel.
  2. Remove the column cover upper and lower.
  3. Disconnect wiper and washer switch connector. Then while pressing tabs, pull wiper and washer switch away from spiral cable to remove.
Disconnect lighting and turn signal switch connector. Then while pressing tabs, pull lighting and turn signal switch toward driver door to remove.
  1. Remove the screws. Then while pressing the tab, pull the spiral cable away from steering column assembly. CAUTION Do not disassemble spiral cable. Do not apply lubricant to the spiral cable.
  2. Disconnect the spiral cable connectors.
With the steering linkage disconnected, the spiral cable may snap by turning the steering wheel beyond the limited number of turns. The spiral cable can be turned counterclockwise about 2.5 turns from the neutral position.

99 Voyager - hard pull to right after alignment

is the steering wheel straight on the spokes ,reasdon is on the steering rack their is central point for the straight ahead position with a pre load to hold the vehicle in a straight line ,now if only one steering arm has been adjusted then this can cause this problem as the power steering valve is is then biased to one side ,how they work on a steering rack is similar to a cotton reel spool and the ends of the spool allow the oil pressure to push one way or the other so not aligned correctly on the track arms allows this spool valve to keep putting pressure on one side allowing the steering to pull to one side ,i could be wrong in this case as these sorts of problems can be perplexing to say the least and other problems can cause this but a quick check is look at the distance from the back of the wheel to the wing either side and see if one wheel is back. But i have had thses problems caused by the tyres out of whatever and made in china ,fitted genuine michelins and the problem went away

Steering wheel adjustment , the steering whell is 90degrees off but the car does not pull eather direction. car was stolen no damage just steering whell truned

jack front of car up then turn steering wheel full lock to full lock and count the number of turns from either side then divide by 2 so you have the straight ahead position then remove the steering wheel and replace in the straight ahead position ,iam saying this because the vehicle may have been re tracked and only one track rod end adjusted so you have say 2 turns to the left and 2 and half to the right if you follow me .or remove the steering wheel then just hold it on and slowly drive forewards and lift wheel and refit to the correct position

Torque specs. for replacing tie rod end on dodge stratus, replacement rod came with slotted nut and cotter pin

Hello
Welcome!
The torque spec for the tyrod ends are 45 foot pounds.

• Unlock the steering wheel before jacking up the vehicle. This allows the Steering linkage to be moved for the best possible access to the ends' fasteners by grabbing one of the axle hubs
• Secure the vehicle on jackstands before removing the wheels.
• Buy name-brand tie-rod ends. Saving a few dollars on cheaply made parts isn't worth the risk.
• Mark the tie-rod ends' positions on their threaded adjusters before removing the old ends. This way, the new ends can be screwed in to approximately the same position as the old ones to get wheel allimint in the ballpark.
• Have the vehicle professionally aligned afterward, especially if the steering wheel isn't centered or the vehicle pulls one direction when attempting to drive straight.

Signs your haveing probloms with the tyrod ends

• Front-end shimmy, shake or vibration.
• Abnormal front-end noise.
• Hard steering.
•steering wheel doesn't return to center properly.
• Vehicle wanders.
• Steering feels unstable, loose or has excessive play.

Front end on my 1999 V70 vibrates at 55 to 60 miles an hour. not before, and goes away if I speed up. also, the steering wheel is not "straight" ie the horizontal portion i the center is not parallel to...

It could be, first thing is to make sure all your tire pressure is correct. Don't go by the gauge at the air pump, by your own tire gauge and there an average price is 99 cent at Auto Zone. If all your tire pressure is correct, (your can get that information on a sticker at the drivers door or where your spare tire is located in the truck. If the car's steering wheel is still not straight, then you need the car's wheel aligned at a alignment shop. If your tires still vibrating then your going to have to get your wheels rebalanced too and check the front end steering componets: ic tie rod ends etc. Good luck and hope this helps, have all the steering components greased to tighten up any play in the joints. Keep me posted, be glad to answer any questions you may have.
