This is caused by a defective fuel gage sending unit inside the gas tank.

IT IS SIMPLE YOU HAVE A DEFECTIVE FUEL LEVEL SENDING UINT INSIDE THE GAS TANK. REMOVE THE GAS TANK AND REPLACE THE SENDING UNIT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, ABOUT A 4 HOUR JOB WITH A HELPER.

Your first problem is to find out why the intermittent no-power problem. Honestly, that sounds like a loose conmnection somewhere. check all your grounds for clean and tight conditions Also, battery connections and alternator connections. Double check your power distribution center for any loose wires or poor connections. Once you solve that problem, then you can diagnose the other problems with poor idle and temp. gauge.

My 1996 ford Bronco xlt will just cut off on me while driving.sometimes crank right back . sometimes take a few minute to crank back. and my fuel gauge is not working

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action, I strongly suggest that you replace the fuel filter. It can be clogged by dirt and rust which may cause the blockage on fuel flow. Try to check the fuse of the fuel gauge too. If it's blown the gauge won't work.

If the problem still persists then the problem will be on the fuel float itself inside the tank. You will need to have it replaced to have accurate reading. Replace the spark plugs too for if it's corroded or full of carbon the engine may stall because of fuel flooding.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

My gas gauge is not working most of the time sometimes it does also my speedometer works sometimes and than it doesn't. So i'm sure it can't be a fuse...

I would check the fuses again. If you are sure it is not the fuse, you need to check the fuel gauge located inside of the gas tank. If it is broken, It needs to be replaced. This will fix your fuel gauge. Hope this helps! Please rate 4 thumbs up!

On first crank fuel pump doesnt hold pressure and has to be cranked on for several seconds

sounds like its not working properly, the fuel pump pumps or it does't, then goes to regulator this is where pressure is adjusted. check fuel pressure with gauge, sometimes even new fuel pumps don't pump enough fuel. most fuel injected cars have over 50 pounds pressure.

98 Grand Cherokee 4whl drv 4.0 ltr. The fuel gauge works sometimes and other times it doesn't. You can shut the motor off and restart it and the fuel gauge will work for awhile sometimes but not everytime!

It sounds as if the sending unit (located in the tank) is wearing out
Does it work better at some capacities then at others if so the is the sending unit. I know I have seen some gauges read fine at nearly full to 3/4 tank, after which the gauge falls right to zero.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
