Question about 1998 Mazda MPV
Check the front axel for a vacuum line on each hub, if one is missing it will not disengage

According to the 4X4 info on the visor, the switch next to the rear defrost and wiper is the 4X4 locker - if that toggle is engaged, the whole system will not be allowed to disengage. Flip that switch off and then you can turn the switch off via the shifter lever switch.
