SOURCE: how do i change the transmission fluid for my

manual transmissions should have a drain plug on or near the bottom of the transmission and a fill plug near the top of the transmission. Remove both plugs and drain gear lube into pan. Replace drain plug. Fill with recommended fluid through top hole and then replace that plug.

WE BOUGHT A 96 MAXIMA WITH 182 K (FOR GRANDDAUGHTER) IT HAS NEVER HAD TRANSMISSION SERVICED....IS IT SAFE TO HAVE OLD TRANSMISSION FLUID DRAINED, & NEW FLUID & SCREEN INSTALLED ... WE HAVE BEEN...

Yes but only by dropping the transmission pan and screen. Newer technologies actually suction the fluid out through the filler tube which most definitely will damage the transmission. I'd also avoid the transmission "flush" that is also widely used. Dropping the pan and changing the filter is the only safe way especially since any debris would not be recirculated through the system.

1996 nissan maxima clutch sticks to floor

yes, Briong the pedal up where it belongs, then open an fill your master cylider. Then go below and open the bleeder intil the fluid runs/drips steady and free of any bubbles. Do not pump the pedal. When only fluid comes out, tighten/close the bleeder and give it a try. Good Luck. If peal dives again, replace the master cylinder.
