If the brake lining indicator light illuminated prior to brake pad replacement, the wear sensor should be replaced. You have to get down to the point where you remove the brake pads then carefully pry the wear sensor from the brake pad. It is not difficult. There is only one sensor in the front and one in the rear. The front one is approximately $20. (Checkout www.realoem.com. Check the condition of the wheel bearings, front and back side if the brake rotor, and the back side of the rim. Everything should be clean, rust build-up can throw everything out of true. The hub or wheel-bearing should be tight and smooth when spun.

The power brake servo / booster is what multiplies the pressure from the brake fluid in the master cylinder and uses it to make it easier to stop your car. If your car was stopping fine before you went in for pads and discs, it was most likely NOT at fault before the work was done.

I am not taking sides on this issue, but I have seen this problem rear its ugly head when the pistons in the calipers are retracted incorrectly to put the new pads in (say, by using a c-clamp). Most German and Swedish cars I work on (in the U.S., very few French cars here) require a tool to retract the pistons to avoid cocking them in the caliper cylinder. If the piston or cylinder gets damaged while retracting the piston, OR the boot around the piston gets torn, letting debris/contaminants into the caliper cylinder, you will for sure eventually have a siezed caliper, which is most likely what happened in your case.

At the very least, the pads and calipers were required to be replaced. All the other parts might be you being taken for a ride.

I would advise you to seek out another workshop and ask them what the problem could be, and tell them what you had done. Have your car towed to the other shop if need be.

I hope this helps you, and that this issue is resolved soon. It is very frustrating to keep throwing parts at a car without success.

Brake peddle is low,


Pedal, not peddle. First make sure reservoir is full at the brake master cylinder. Then check your brake pads (for disc brakes) and/or brake shoes (for drum brakes). When the pads or shoes are very worn down, you will get a low pedal. If you have disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear wheels, first try just replacing the front brake pads. If you get a good pedal after the front is done, many people tend to let the rear brake shoes go unless they are making noise. These systems are designed to put most of the braking force on the front discs, so the rear shoes do not need changing as often.

Squealing at the right front wheel


The brake lining's have worn away, the squealing was metal to metal (worn pad against metal disc) The worn pad will have damaged the brake disc. Very dangerous. You will now have to have new brake pads and discs fitted to BOTH front wheels to put it right. Good luck

When i press on brakes i can hear a grinding noise coming from he front end, what could it be?


Brake pads are worn. That noise is the sound of the backing plate for the brake pads hitting the rotors. You will need to replace the pads and probablt the rotors. When the brakes go metal to metal like that it typically destroys the rotor.

You did not mention working on the rear brakes, so I must assume that the rear brakes are still original equipment. Perhaps the grinding noise is coming from the rear.

Brake noise


Check the front brake pads for wear.
You may need to replace the disc brake pads.

The hard part is pressing the caliper piston abck into the caliper so you can get the new, thicker pads over the rotor. A large C Clamp works best.

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION Pads —Front Disc Brake Removal
  1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly. For additional information, refer to Section 204-04 .
  1. Remove the front disc brake caliper bolts. torx bit. T20?
  1. Support the front disc brake caliper from the front strut and spring assembly using mechanics wire.
  1. Remove the front disc brake pads.
    1. Remove the outboard front disc brake pad.
    1. Remove the inboard front disc brake pad.
Installation
  1. s1v~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: Make sure the master cylinder reservoir does not overfill and spill brake fluid while retracting the front disc brake caliper piston.
    NOTE: It is necessary to fully retract the front disc brake caliper piston in the bore before installing the front disc brake pads.
    Install the front disc brake pads.
    1. Install the inboard front disc brake pad.
    1. Install the outboard front disc brake pad.
Caution. The outer pads are left and right. put left on driver side.
  1. Position the front disc brake caliper on the front-wheel knuckle and install the brake caliper pin bolts.

FRONT LEFT SIDE BRAKE NOISE & BINDING


It may be caused by Disc Thickness Variation, which occurs when the pads brush the sides of an out of alignment rotor. Also, it could be that the rotors need to be resurfaced due to poor surface finish. I have also seen that when the brakes drag on the pads (DTV) that any pad dust will collect in the low spots and squeal after braking. I would recommend dropping the calipers and thoroughly cleaning the rotors and pads off with warm soapy water and a rag. I don't recommend brake cleaner or silencing sprays because they just add un-needed material to a contact surface and can actually cause noise and prevent full pad contact.

I can also suggest checking the hub face with a roller-tipped dial indicator gauge to confirm that it doesn't have any lateral run-out. Run-out of over .002" would be out of spec.

Brake clicking


hiya may i suggest you inspect the front brakes pads and discs for wear and discs for damage /scoures considering age of vehicle? when was last service inspection on brakes etc? if you do not feel competant to check brakes ? quite understand you could pop along to nearest national tyres depot and ask them to check brakes as above and also driveshaft cv joints for wear as these cv joints also give clicking sound when driving tyre dpot do not usually charge to check but will try to obtain job and give you a quote! if you have diagnosis and £££££?quote ? by all means come back with update and glad to offer help and advice if you wish ? hope this helps you as to probable cause? either way repair/s will not be too expensive best wishes
