Wiring.
Either in the bulb socket itself - or the wire leading back to the fuse panel.

Inspect it very well for cracks/damage.

Thanks!!

Concerning fuses, dash board and tail light use same fuse, size 10 fuse could I use a size 20 fuse in its spot and would it be harmful to use truck ?

In a pinch, yes you can use a 20amp in place of a 10amp as long as you have repaired what blew the 10amp.
It needs to be changed to the correct 10amp ASAP.
What happens is the next time, the 20 becomes a 30, becomes a 40 becomes a ... and the wiring harness burns up.

Have no tail lights for my 1992 grand marquis

Look for the easy things first. Could be one bulb was burned out and then the other burned out. Check the bulbs. If that doesn help look at the fuse block, probably under the dash on the driver side. If the fuse is the problem and if it blows when you put in a new one. look in the trunk at the tail light wires to see if they have been damaged or have come loose from the bulb sockets and are causing a short that blows the fuse. Repair or replace bulb sockets and or wires. Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

All my interior lights work except for my dashboard lights

Bigird,

I would recommend checking the fuses for the dashboard lights. If no fuses are burned, there could be a possibility of the bulbs in the dash being burned. In any case, start by looking in the manual for fuses relating to dashboard/gauge cluster lights. Once you find out what fuse it should be go from there.

Good luck

I have burned out tail lights only...everything else works where is the tail light fuss located?

you first need to locate your fuse box.. which is most likely under your dash... or in the engine bay. open the fuse box up and on the back of the lid it will say which fuse and relay is which.. you want to look for tail lamps i beleive..

No tail lights , no dashboard lights and burns 20 amps fuse every time I put a new one. Whats problem ?

You have a dead short either at the tail lights (bulb) or the dashboard lights. It's possible that the wiring to either of these two places is shorted. Don't resort to using a very heavy fuse and watching for smoke! That can trash other wiring running in the same wire loom or even start a fire! Good luck!

Seems that u have a bad short I would start looking at the loom running to the dash somewhere wires must be shaved through and touching either against the body or another open wire

yes the cam gaer and the crank gear, caution if misaligned you can bend valves, you should buy a repiar manual for that car, they will give step by step directions onthat and many other repairs, hope this helps, good luck.

auggie1, since you have turned the key you now need to find top dead center on #1 cylinder, there should be a cutout for the rotor (kind of like a notch it should fit into) with #1 at tdc (top dead center) the rotor contact should be inline,be sure of your firing order (wires) when you are done good luck if you need more help drop me a line
