I beleive there is a fault in the lock motor of the drivers door but as access is difficult I will leave well aloan untill such time as I have to make a repair.

Remote locking system is now working fine. The manual function with the key is still unable to lock the car.

    Many Thanks

I have the same problem. It doesn't lock or unlock with the remote. Locking or unlocking with the key manually works fine.

Wow, Thats a crazy system. Good Luck and I hope it works out for you. Dan

Did you have the ignition switch replaced lately? It sounds like it thinks the keys are in the ignition and it's not going to let you lock the locks when it see's the keys in the ignition. Just a thought though. Dan

Lockng seems to have self cured itself remote button has to be held for 2 seconds each time to operate the lock/unlock system.
Broadband system up and running with no ill effect.

In answer to your question nothing had been replaced or repaired prior to the problem.
Batteries in all the remotes or the car have been renewed. Problem still exists.
Removal and replacement of the fuse 25 resetting the ignition module. Starting the engine and moving the car to a different location the locking system operated normally but on returning to my home the system failed.
My wife returned home later and her car a different make and model would not lock.
I have since turned off my broadband wireless network system and holding the lock button for approx 15 seconds the lock operated.
I will post findings after further trails

Check to see if your central locking still works on all doors and that you can also operate the driver's door central lock motor.
This can sometimes be an issue with the door lock motors themselves and not necessarily the key.

Unlock vehicle. Enter vehicle. Close driver's door. Switch ignition ON and OFF. Remove ignition key. Press and hold unlock button. Press lock button briefly 3 times within 10 seconds keeping unlock button depressed. Release unlock button. Some models: LED flashes slowly for 10 seconds. Some models: Central locking system locks and unlocks rapidly to indicate correct programming. Repeat above procedure if central locking system does not work and LED does not flash or LED flashes continuously.

Central Locking does not work

You must reset your remote control in order for the lock/unlock to work properly.

To reset remote you would:
1)Insert Key in Ignition Turn to Position 1(Don't Start the Engine) for about 5 seconds
2)Turn Key Off and HOLD the LOCK button on Remote while pressing the UNLOCK 3 TIMES
3)Release both lock and unlock buttons you are holding
4)All doors should automatically unlock

And exit the door and lock with the Remote.

Can not lock car by key remote . toyota rav 4 53 plate

If your car has an alarm with a separate remote, it is a separate system and it is probably self-arming. When you lock the doors with the key central lock, the alarm gets armed by the RAV4 being OFF and the door locking action. When you unlock the doors with the key, the alarm is still armed because the key is not comunicating with the alarm just the cars factory keyless system.

Programming keyless remote

2003-04 Mazda 6 REMOTE PROGRAMMING

Step 1: Open drivers door and leave open.

Step 2: Lock and unlock the driver’s door using the power door lock switch on the door.

Step 3: Insert key into the ignition.

Step 4: Turn key to on position and return to off position. (IMPORTANT - use ON position NOT ACC position). Do this 3 times within 10 seconds. Leave key in the ignition.

Step 5: Open and close the driver’s door 3 times. (Door should be left open after this step).

Step 6: ECU should respond by locking and unlocking the doors.

Step 7: Press any button on remote #1 twice. ECU responds by locking and unlocking the car doors.

Step 8: Press any button on remote #2 (etc.) twice. Each time the ECU will respond by locking & unlocking the doors.

Step 9: Remove the key from the ignition and the ECU will respond a final time with a series of door locks and unlocks. You're done!

Good Luck.
