Question about 2005 Chevrolet Impala

1 Answer

Trying to hook up after market radio inside my 2005 chevrolet impala using a wire harness but it will not come on. I had another radio installed before this one but someone broke in my car and stole it. I have checked all of the fuses but getting not power. I asked around and was told that I have the right wire harness but it needs to be hooked up a different way for it to work. Can anyone help me with this problem and tell me which wires have to be crossed.

Aftermarket radios and conversion harnesses come with an instruction sheet. The connections used and color codes for different manufacturers vary . In general, you will always have two power leads. one for memory and clock, the other for power. There is also a ground. The remainder of the wires operate your speakers. They will often work with the polarity reversed but always work better when properly connected. There also may be a separate wire for a power antenna which can be used or not, depending if you have one.
On lat model cars it is important to find a clean power source that is not connected to the airbag (dangerous) or the computer, or any computer module.
I may have a somewhat helpful but generic connection guide...if I can find it I'll send it later.

I'm not a stereo person, I'm a wire chaser. I looked at wiring for your sound system w/o amplifier in database. Did you check radio fuse for voltage, use a test light, hot all the time. The radio also has to have ground, ground wires are usually black. Did the after market radio come with instructions? Some radios have an anti-theft lock out, if that is the problem I can't help you. Your radio manufacturer may have a web site where you can ask questions? Just to add, the12volt.com
has installer info. It's interesting.

SOURCE: trying to hook up after

I had the same issue. You have to run the red power wire to a suitable 10 amp fuse in the fuse panel. Just remember that when you look for fuses, you connect to one that is not "hot" at all times. Meaning connect to one that operates off the key only, and not that battery. Good luck

How do I install radio in a 2000 chevy impala

You need to know how to use a volt/ ohm meter. If you don't . have some one to replace the radio. If you put 12 volts to the wring wire, you cold blow the PCM. Or other computers.

This radio wiring diagram may help you to figure out where that wiring job went wrong. Use it along with the diagram that came the aftermarket radio to make sure that you got all the wires in the proper places. babd4abb-f638-49a7-8a71-02b937b9dc05.gif

Radio sound not working

I had the same problem with my 2005 Impala radio. The soloution was: Locate the wiring harness under the carpet in the passengers side behind the front seat. You need to untape it (there's a lot of tape) take off the plastic covering and look for the Orange wire. Follow the orange wire towards the rear of the car until you see where it splits into 2 Orange wires. Common problem is corrosion at the split. Cut the wires and resplice them together. My problem was solved right there!!

How to wire an aftermarket wire harness for a 2002 impala

I have a 2000 impala. Today I just had to buy a $115 wire harness just to hook up my deck and speakers. It's because there's two pieces instead of one to connect to the harness. It's because when u turn your key off ,your radio plays until you open the door. The harness comes with a fan type thing ,that keeps everything from dying.hope this helps

I just installed an after market stereo in my impala. Now the starter doesn't engage. Is their a wire on the wire harness that affects this?

In the wiring diagrams there is a COMPUTER DATA LINES SYSTEM wire. From what I have read the radio won't cause the car not to start. Did you make sure you didn't drain the battery? Is the Theft Deterrent light on? If it is you're going to need a scanner to get the codes. This is what the Theft Deterrent system does with the radio.

I think if the Theft Deterrent light is on you will have to start there if not just diag a no crank condition.

Factory radio main key to ignition switch

The factory radio has nothing to do with a car starting or not starting. You can install any radio that you like in your car as long as it was installed properly there will be no problem. The no start needs to be looked at but don't look at radio for cause. Would need more info on the no start to help there. You should take notes as to conditions when car won't start.
