The crankcase is the hollow part of the engine where the oil is, it is contained inside the engine block and the oil pan on the bottom of the engine, to say the crankcase is leaking is a very broad statement, You will need to narrow down where the oil is leaking out of the crankcase

White stuff under oil filler lid

Head gasket between engine block and valve header is leaking coolant into engine oil crank case. Expect a major costly repair because mechanic has to remove many parts to replace head gasket. If you have not overheat the engine, it may cost less. Because overheat engine will damage other components such as radiator, water pump, main seal, oil seal, timing belt.

On the 2007 dodge caravan has there been many problems with it leaking oil from the crank?

This could be a result of the gasket leaking that is between the engine block and the crank case cover (front of engine), or it could be the front crankshaft gasket itself. If it is leaking from the rear of the engine it could be an issue with the gasket between the transmission and the engine block.

Either way it sounds like an issue with a gasket. A replacement could range from ~$200 for a crank case cover to ~$500 for the crankshaft seal.

I have an 02 duramax with fuel in the crank case, i pulled the injectors & took to diesesl injection repair shop. had them pop tested @ 300 bar & no leaks, then had them high pressure tested &...

The injectors are the only thing I know of that will do this. By the way, GM has raised the warranty on them to 200k miles. Hope you have less than that on yours. Take it to your dealer. Good Luck TJ

Why my oldsmobile alero 1999 wont keep water in

CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAKS AROUND THE RADIATOR LOOK DOWN BETWEEN COOLING FANS AND RADIATOR SIDES FOR SIGNS OF ANTIFREEZE.CHECK ALL RADIATORS HOSES AND HEATER HOSES.IF ALL LOOK GOOD CHECK ENGINE OIL FOR COOLANT LEAKS.IF OIL LOOKS LIKE MILK SHAKE COOLANT LEAKING IN CRANK CASE.YOU HAVE A HEAD GASKET LEAK.YOU NEED TO CHANGE OIL + FILTER. GET THE HEAD GASKET FIX.BECAUSE LEAK IN THE CRANK CASE WILL LOCK UP THE ENGINE.IF CRANK CASE OIL LOOKS OKAY.YOU DONT HAVE THE COOLANT CORRECT MIXTURE.YOU SHOULD HAVE 50/50 ANTIFREEZE AND WATER.

My anti coolant iz low in i took it the shop they told me they think its my heads what should i do ??

Check your oil for any coolant that may have leaked. If your oil looks milky, that means coolant has leaked past your head gasket, or you have a cracked head or block. You can also have a compression test performed. This will tell you if there is a compression leak.

My 1987 ford ranger died on my way home from class a couple days ago. it had been getting bad mpg the last few weeks and reduced power. before it broke down there was no power or response of any kind when...

raw gas smell is a sure indication of a fuel leak,,,the fuel filter on my ranger is directly under the drivers seat attached to the frame,,,crank it over and look under for leaking fuel,,,takes an inexpensieve tool to remove filter if thats where your leak is,,,the filter wont come off without the tool,,its cheap to purchase,,under 4 bucks,,doesnt matter if it wont start,,just crank & check for leak,,check under hood also,,,

Power steering leak

The Crank Seal is Part of the Motor Not the Power Steering Pump. You can take your Truck to the Car wash and Clean the Motor Really well While RUNNING. And then just Drive home. You will be able to see exactly where the Leak is Coming From. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

Check that the glow plugs are working , the relay is in the e-box(big black box in the right front of engine bay)remove the glow plugs and individually test them. They should glow red after 3 seconds .
