Question about 2004 Dodge Durango

2 Answers

2004 Dodge Durango has a flapping/clicking sound from either the front end or transmission when coasting at slow speed. Transmission also shifts hard. Started after transmission flush service at Jiffy Lube. Possibly clutch not engaging correctly in neutral. This is an automatic 5.7 Hemi

Could be a wheel bearing, possibly.

I would take it back to Jiffy Lube and complain.

Already had it in the shop to replace the entire rear end because of a bearing failure and they checked the front. Had front brakes and calipers replaced too. Flapping sound is not constant and also sounds like a clickity..clickity..clickity metalitc fluttering sound like something is not engaging correctly. I'll end up taking it to the dealership soon to get it figured out. They almost know me by sight now with all the work I've had done on it this year :)

Yeah, the dealer can probably figure it out. Good luck.

Oh, forgot to mention that is AWD and the sound disapears when it is engaged in 4w high lock.

Was going to work today and the durango sounded funny when it shifted in to 3rd gear it just reved up and never shifted . Now i'm getting a check engine light and error code p0700

Code 700 is a generic code for a problem with the transmission or the control module. Normally there are other codes for specific components.
You'll probably need a transmission shop to take a look.

1999 DODGE DRANGO HAVEING PROBLEM SHIFTING OUT OF LOW GEAR AN SOMETIMES SLOW AOUT SHIFTING OUT OF 2ND TO 3RD IS THIS A COMPUTER PROBLEM

Hello,
There are several things that come to mind that commonly cause the issues you're having.

1. Make sure your transmission fluid level isn't low.
2. If your transmission fluid hasn't been changed in a long time, you could have some deposits
built up in the valve body, or the screening could be partially clogged.
3. You may have a faulty shift solenoid/shift motor.
4. In some cases the speed control module may be faulty.

I hope this helps you.

2002 dodge durango whinning noise will your

Thank you for getting back to me. I would like you to check your transmission fluid. start the engine and let it warm up at idle speed for about 15 min and check the fluid. It sounds like you do not have enough in it, there for the whining noise with increase of speed since your transmission is speeding up with the rate of your vehicle. If this does not help and the problem persist please let me know. If the noise you were hearing was coming from the u joints of the vehicle it would not make a whining noise with increase of speed. The u joints will only make a noise when they are going bad when the vehicle is shifted into any gear from the shifter( EX: park to drive, park to reverse ECT.)

When driving my 2004 dodge durango limited edition SUV, it sometimes hesitates then jerks during coasting speeds. Im just wondering if anyone has had the same issue, and what was the cause?

I had this problem and I ended up replacing the valve body in the transmission, but it could also be a sensor, so getting a mechanic to scan it is a good idea before you cause any damage.

Gear shift is stuck in park I have a similar problem. I have a 2004 dodge durango. It will start up fine, but it won't shift into reverse or drive. It usually takes up to 15 minutes sometimes to get it...

there is a release on the brake pedal that lets the transmission shift out of park you should hear it click when you put your foot on the brake

2000 durango 4.7 v8 tranny slip or something. Plzz help!!!

First thing you want to do, is get all that additive stuff out of there & get new filter & proper fluid in there. Mopar ATF 4. then disconnect battery for minute or 2 & start fresh as far as storing trouble codes goes. Chrysler transmissions don't react well to improper fluids or additives. If it starts to act up again, or check engine light comes on, have it scanned for codes at Autozone, or Pep boys & see what codes if any, come up. Don't prolong any transmission problem, as it will only cost you more in the end, if you don't take care of it right away.

YES SOUNDS LIKE IT IS THE SOLENOID NOT SHIFTING INTO REVERSE OR TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NOT SENDING SIGNAL TO VALVE BODY SOLENOID
