Removal & Installation
Carefully remove the sensor by pulling it
straight out of the bore. DO NOT use a screwdriver, or other device to pry the
sensor out of the bore. Prying will cause the sensor body to break off in the
surface and the sensor O-ring to ease sensor installation.
DO NOT proceed to drive the vehicle until it is diagnosed and repaired. Check
the wheel speed sensor electrical connector to ensure it is not damaged and is
installed properly. If the lamp remains illuminated, diagnostics are required.

The powertrain control module (PCM) uses the transmission mounted vehicle
speed sensor (VSS) for rear wheel speed input signals. The PCM then sends this
information to the EBCM to use for ABS control.
