Question about 1989 Chevrolet K1500

2 Answers

I have a 1994 Chevy 1500 and it won't start I have replaced the Fuel filter, then when I saw that did not work I changed the Fuel pump. My truck still wont start and I have checked the fuses and replaced the fuel pump relay. So I am wondering what else the problem might be.

SOURCE: truck runs for two seconds an shut down i changed

No, the fuel regulator from a 96 will not fit a 98. The 98 is a vortec and i believe the 96 is TBI. You are on the right track though, but the fuel regulator is attached to the fuel injector spider and is one unit inside the upper intake. It is relative easy to replace just takes some time.

I HAVE A 1994 CHEVY TRUCK 1500 WITH A 5.7 CHANGED THE FUEL FILTER AND PUMP AND IGNITION KEY SWITCH IT STARTS STAYS AT A GOOD IDLE FOR ABOUT 30 MIN WARMS UP THEN SHUTS OFF AND IS HARD TO START WHAT DO

You need to know what is shutting off when the engine dies.
Are you loosing fuel to the injectors, or spark to the plugs ?
How long does it take to get it started after it dies, and what do you do to get it to restart ?

1994 Chevy Cavalier 2.2L will not start

The car won't turn over as in I assume when you turn the key the engine will not turn over??? Asking because that would never indicate needing to change the fuel pump or filter.

I would guess if it won't turn over and your battery was tested and passed as being good, you either have loose cables on your battery, a bad ground. Take the leads off the batter and clean them up good. Scrape the inside of the lead lead that bolts on to the battery and do the same with the battery post and then put the leads back on making sure you are able to tighten them down good. That's a start

The P,T pump is likely the problem . The pump is inside the engine and is really expensive to replace.

Keep burning up fuel pumps

Don't buy carter pumps for sure, I know champion makes a damn good pump, but you might want to do some research for yourself. remember you get what you pay for and just replacing the fuel pump is a pain in the @$$ so spending alittle extra for a quality pump is worth not having to change it again

Fuel pump relay for a 1994 Chevy Truck WT1500

The Fuel Pump Relay is located in the Glove Box under a little cover on the upper left side. The Fuel Control Relay is the left relay and The Fuel Pump Relay is the right. To test these relays, swap them and then try to start the vehicle, or blow the horn. If the horn blows then use that relay for the pump and you may at least drive the vehicle where needed! If the vehicle starts, then replace them as a pair.
