There is a problem with the theft deterrent system and it needs to be fixed for the light to go off.You need to get the codes to find out what could be causing the light to stay on.You can try the quick relearn.Just attempt to start the car and leave the key on,in ten minutes the light will go off. Then try starting the car.Sometimes this works but you should still get the codes.Could be a worn out key resistor,or a bad ignition cylinder. This is the part that the key goes into.Sometimes the wire in the cylinder breaks. This will cause a no start. If you go to a G.M.dealer they have a V.A.T.S machine and they can check your key for you.Hope this helps.Let me know what you find or what codes you get.Good luck.

2002 chevy impala won't start if I jump starter

Is the security light on or flashing ?
The yellow wire goes from the key switch to the neutral safety switch, then to the starter. So bypassing the neutral safety would make the starter crank the engine, but would have nothing to do with the rest of the engine.

My 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited has a new battery but won't start. When I try to jump start it, it just makes a clicking sound but won't start.

Most likely you have a bad connection somewhere. Trace the battery cables and clean/tighten all terminals or try jumping to a different lug. You might also try removing the starter and jumping directly to the starter to verify that it is good.

try locking your car with the key and unlocking it with the key, leave it for 30 second or so between the locking and unlocking , the car thinks some one has tampered with it

1992 BUICK LA SABRE, PROBLEM AS FOLLOWS WE HAVE POWER TO THE BOTTOM OF THE STEERING COLUMN FROM IGNITION KEY SWITCH, BUT NO POWER FROM THE SWITCHES AT BOTTOM OF COLUMN TO STARTER SOLENOID, WE'VE TRIED...

it will only run for a few seconds if your key has a transponder that the security system looks for, the security system is tied into the ignition system for starter and ignition.
do you have a security light flashing on dash? if that is the case you have to leave the key in the on position until the light goes off, usually 10 - 15 minutes, once light goes off you should be able to start the engine unless the tumbler is bad, it has the part that reads the transponder in the key.

sounds like it needs an ignition switch. the reason it dies after a few seconds after jumping the starter is bc the security system from gm thinks you're stealing the car so it kills the fire. the security system goes thru the key so if the switch is bad, it wont run no matter how you try to crank it

You need to either replace the ignition lock cylinder or bypass the security system. If you need help with either one, repost.
