1996 jeep grand cherokee w/ new rings, rod bear.,valve job, rad. & water pump and transmission. now just shut down in middle of highway when accelerating or slowing down. engine light now on. whats up?

There are several things that few people know about starting cars in cold weather. 1. Check your battery to make sure it is not rusted, leaking, and has a charge 2. Jump start your battery with another car, even if you believe the battery is good, this often times will still start your car. 3. If your engine is cold, and you have an older car, ensure to get your fuel lines to the engine flushed or have fuel injection service performed 4. The engine tends to warp the same way wood does during the extreme cold, do not be afraid to continue trying to warm up the engine by constant cranks with it is cold out. Your not going to hurt the car, the worse that could happen is too much fuel will enter the carborator and cause flooding in the system to occur. Wait 20 minutes if this happens and start to crank again 5. Bad spark plugs are a major reason why many cars take a very long time to start 6. Please have your spark plugs removed and exchanged for new ones. Over time, spark plugs become fowled and prevent the car from starting even thou you hear cranking!!!

Citroen dispatch van 1.9 2001 starts runs for short time then cuts out again, this in cold weather

I assume it is deisel? if so you probably have an air leak in the **** side of the fuel pump, perhaps the primer pump, what sort is it?

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee started up this morning then cut off on me. now it will roll over but wont start

check the fire at the coil as well as distributor if you dont have fire there when cranking then check your igniton module if there is fire? then your fuel system has shut down could be a faulty pump / filter/ or stuck injector which happens in cold weather and having just a drop or two of water in your fuel system

When i turn the key to start the jeep i have to wait about 45 second until the fuel pump kick in then it will start and run just fine.I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter.fuel pump relay, cap and rotor...

Check the wiring, it may also be a computer module issue. Check the fuel that comes to the fuel filter for debris. There might dirt accumulated in the fuel tank.

Jeep kicks over but does not start ,,full tank gas

If carbureted, look down into carb & move throttle linkage...see if you have fuel squirting into throat. If not accelerator pump in carb is bad.Or there is no fuel reaching carb. (Ill assume for now that you checked and have spark at plugs, right?)
Does choke close when cold? Did this happen after warm up (before no start at all happened) You have to do some testing ...I can't see it from here!!! Post back if during tests you find anything strange or that need explanation.

Will not start in cold weather

Not solution, fuel injectors/ tune up can make a big difference, diagnostics can't tell you anything unless your car is running with engine lights on, timing is everything!

Fuel pump not running only in cold weather

Pumping the pedal on an injected engine does nothing, except varying the air intake amount. I would change the fuel filter (if badly plugged, it may be causing the pump to shut off early) and clean the idle air control valve.(which should regulate idle air flow, eliminating the need for playing with the pedal) The valve itself is not difficult to service, but is a bit delicate. It can be cleaned with carb cleaner. just make sure you do not turn the valve end around while cleaning, and re-install it perfectly straight. You may have a bad drain back valve in the pump, but this is less common than what I outlined above.(there are tests for this)
