Question about 1999 GMC Jimmy
I think it could be a fuel pump problem if the car turns over and does not start. To check this, put a few tablespoons of gas down the intake, or spray starting fluid into the throttle body (intake).
If it starts right up, then you have a fuel delivery problem in this vehicle.
What, may I ask is the 'grinding' that you are experiencing?
