Hi, I have an 02 Bravada and have had the same problem. Sounds like the same problem I had. It was a swithch that engages and disengages the 4 wheel drive. Your switch is bad and is locked in 4 wheel drive. It needs to be replaced. Cost me $700 to fix it.

I had the same situatation with my expedition. The transmission was diagnosed as the source of the problem. After awhile in the shop, the back wheel issue went away

Why every time when I turn the steering wheel the rear differential starts to lock and it shakes?

Do you have the vehicle in 4 wheel drive? 4 wheel drive is only meant for slippery conditions. It will act exactly as you describe if on dry surfaces.

Vibration at 70 MPH.

Warped or out-of balance brake rotor? Also keep in mind that loose rear differential trailing arms that allow the rear differential to squirm around can also cause steering wheel shake.

Front wheels not turning in 4wheel drive 1996 dodge dakota

Check and make sure the transfer case is adjusted right If the front end was broke you would know it. Jack up one front wheel and put it in 4wheel drive but not lock and see if the front drive shaft turns if it doesn't you need to adjust linkage or if it's electric make sure the signal is getting to the transfer case. If it only locks front and rear jack up one rear wheel also and do the check. Most people with 4 wheel drive don't know they have two wheel drive One in the rear and one in the front unless you ordered a locking dif from the factory they don't come this way. Then you would have 3 wheel drive

95 landrover disco has problem with transmission or transfer case. will move when I put it in Lock HI and Lock Lo but will not move when transfer case shifter goes to road gears in hi or lo and will whine...

Sounds as if the gears may be broken in the rear axle, the front axle will pull the car if in four wheel drive but when in 2 wheel drive only the rear axle pulls. Get the back tires off the ground and turn the rear end by the wheels. You may or may not hear any noise but if it is in park it you should feel some resistance if the gears are in good shape, will likely turn freely or lock up completely in spots if the gears are broken.

I have a 2006 chev 2500 HD. The steering wheel and 4x4 shifter shake very bad at 50mph. It has had a new transfer case put in, driveshaft balanced and all four tires checked. The vibration goes away if you...

u need to check rear end with the drive shaft removed vibration goes away would lead me to believe you have bad bearings in the rear end more than likely the pinion bearing
pull cover off (while fluid draining check to see if there a lot of metal in oil )
if you do see metal in fluid or laying in rear end you need rear end rebuilt or replaced
i wouldn't recommend doing the rebuild your self because with out the special tools and knowleage u can make matters worse

4 wheel drive shakes

you should be checking the other u joints as well, then check to see if the transfer case is firmly attached as well.

Front end (4wd) gear lock?

grab the cv joint (shaft with the rubber boot that cnnects to the wheel) and see if it wobbles, but the wheels have to be straight and its got to be in 2wd and in neutral with the parking brake set...Or jack up the vehicle on that side and turn the wheel back and forth quickly and watch if the cv joint shakes.(like if its not round)if it shakes then replace the cv joint...about up to $150.00 for a rebuilt one plus a core charge.

1991 eagle talon tsi awd back wheels lock up

I'll assume this is a manual 5peed. The transmission (a W5M33) has a viscous coupler (VC) inside that is linked to the transfer case shaft. This in turn connects to the prop shaft to the rear diff. The rear diff (for the TSi) is usually also viscous coupler to provide a limited slip (LS) function. So ... what can cause the rear wheel lock up? If the W5M33 VC breaks (unusual but not impossible), you'd probably still have rear wheel spin. If the transfer case brakes (quite common with hard use), it could lock up, locking the rear wheels. The W5M33 VC then would overheat. A VC is filled with silicon that smells vile when heated. Best case, you'll have to pull the transfer case off and inspect it. Worst case, pull the whole transmission out. If all is OK with the wheels off the ground and a rear LS, spin one rear wheel and the other does the same. On the front, no LS function, and one wheel will spin. Look at lancerproject.ca for more info on AWD transmissions.

It possible that the drive shaft need to be turn 1/2 turn and re installed, or the balance weight is missing from the drive shaft.
