Question about 1996 Chrysler LHS

Open Question

Hi every one i just bought a 1996 Chrysler LHS and You know what it does not over heat at all but it does smoke allot from under the hood. and also you can tell the transmission is gonna take a dump because its rough sound when your driving it like if its forcing itself and the RPM go even with MPH gauge! any one know what that means the smoking and RPM? also when you let go of the gas pedal there is violent shaking of the whole car. Could that be the rotors needed to be resurfaced? cause i know the front hubs need to be replaced. Please respond back any one, thanks. this is my email 97237myonly1@gmail.com

SOURCE: Chrysler LHS Starter

The starter is located beneith the engine, near the transaxle and it is attatched to the engine by 3 bolts. You need to disconnect the battery, raise the car to get at it. The 3.3 and 3.5 engines take different starters. Rick

Setting in the car remote in hand turn the key on and off ( don't start the car ) three times within 5 seconds. Now press the door lock button until the doors lock and stop it should now work.

Passenger side near the firewall. Look for a piece of plastic clipped to a metal bracket and the plastic will have EGR on it. This is a two piece system, follow the hoses for the other part. hope this helps .

My 2001 Chrysler LHS started smoking from under the hood when I turned off car and poured out a brown fluid from underneath car...

Its probably old worn out antifreeze/coolant.. HOPEFULLY not oil...you need to contact a QUALIFIED professional...Hopefully new hoses, thermostat, (maybe water pump)and a good flushing will fix the problem..pray its not oil...you will need to have the car towed to the repair shop.. ask around..(friends, neighbors,(google search with GREAT reviews) and do not chose one at random...

Good luck..

96 Crysler lhs over heating. I have replaced the radiator, water pump, timing is correct, all new hoses except heater core hoses, thermostat, cap to resevoir replaced, intake manifold gasket replaced, and...

I HAD THIS PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT, BUT THE TRICK IS TO OPEN THE BLEED SCREW ON THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING, AND FILL THE ENGINE WITH COOLENT UNTIL IT RUNS OUT OF THE BLEED SCREW. (CLOSE THE SCREW THEN) NOW THE ENGINE WILL HAVE THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF COOLANT.

I DIDN`T KNOW THE PROCEDURE FOR THIS AND MINE KEPT OVER HEATING UNTIL I LEARNED THIS TRICK.

It overheats but dont read as though it is running hot car shuts off i fill the coolant tank and it seems to never get full exaust smokes allot but stops when car has cooled for a while

bad intake or head gasket could also be a cracked head the reason it smokes when hot is because the coolant system is pressurized and pushes coolant through the bad gasket or crack into the cylinder and out the exhaust turning to steam

Sounds like you have a broken wire. Check the wires under the fuse panel under the hood. Its a problem with Chrysler mini vans and it might be the same here.
