Question about 1989 Lincoln Town Car

Open Question

I have a 1989 Lincoln Town Car Signature. The keyless entry works in the respect that I can open the trunk with it as well as lock the doors with it, however, when I use it to lock the doors it only locks the rear doors. When the code is entered the drivers side door does not unlock nor does the passenger door ever unlock. I have the same basic problem when locking the doors from the inside of the car, only the rear doors will lock not the front drivers door or passenger door. Any ideas on what this could be? Thanks, Chris

Yes there is a fuse, from the eletrical diagram i am seeing power comes from the power distrubtion box and also fuse in the Fuse box,

Check your fuses for any blown ones. Im seeing a 15amp and 20 amp fuse and a 40amp feed from the distrubtion box.

SOURCE: need help programing two keyless entry remotes

Enter the keyless entry code on the door keypad 3 times. Locks will cycle down and up after the third time. Press and release the "lock" button. Locks should cycle again. May need to hold down lock button for 2 sec rather than press and release. Program up to 4 remotes. If cycling the key on-then-off works, you'll probably have to do it quickly 8 times and after the 8th time, locks will cycle down then up and press and release the lock button.

SOURCE: lincoln keyless entry

On my 2007 Lincoln MKZ it's under the dash to the left of the steering wheel on a label just above the fuse box lid. There is a grey plug sort of in the way, but the plastic cover that the label is on has raised letters on it that says "SUPPLIER" on it.

I have problem with keyless entry and all the locks system even the trunk will not open, what can I do?

Can you be more specific about the symptoms?
it makes a big difference if you describe what the car does.
Is it faulty all the time?
Temperature related?
Are you able to lock/unlock the doors with the switch on the door?
The keyless module located in the driver's door has some relays that turn on and off the actuators for the door locks and trunk latch release.
This is a part that does not need to be programmed. So buying a used one (if you prefer) will save you money. Just make sure to get the same part number as the one in the label.

2007 Town Car windows, seat, trunk won't open

This problem is caused by a bad Driver Door Module. It is available at your Ford dealer for about $300.00. It comes with a code to reprogram your keyless entry system. If you can remove your driver door trim panel you can easily do the job yourself. I have heard a quote of $550.00 if Ford does the job but that could vary depending on your location. You could buy used for around $100.00 and Ford will reprogram it, after it is installed, for $125.00.

What would you do when your 1996 lincoln town car doors won't lock with the key. And the trunk won't open.

How can a lock not lock or unlock with a physical key? Maybe the cylinders are frozen? Try squirting a little oil into the locks.
1996 Town Cars have keys and keyless entry. The physical keys are two, an ignition key and a door key. You can't use the door key in the ignition, nor the ignition key in the door. They aren't interchangeable.
The default key code for keyless entry is posted on the right trunk hinge, inside the trunk.

I have 1992 Lincoln Towncar. I can use the keyless

You probably have a bad hazard switch.

For the code,
1. Look on the deck lid arms for a small tag with the permanent code.
2. If you purchased new, call selling dealer to see if they have it recorded on the invoice.
3. Look in the glove box owner manual package for a credit card size plastic card with the code number.
4. Pay dealer 1/2 hour labor charge to retrieve the code with their diagnostic tool. Confirm price ahead of time.
5. Look on keyless entry module for the tag with the code.

For 1994 town car, module is behind glvoe box. Not sure for 1992, sinnce 94 was a new model design.

Door Lock Control Processor, Electronic Removal and Installation
  1. Drop glove compartment door. Refer to Section 01-05 .
  1. Remove nut on electronic door lock control processor (14B001) bracket assembly.
  1. Remove bracket assembly from RH cowl.
  1. Remove electronic door lock control processor from electronic door lock control processor bracket assembly (2 screws).
  1. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

How to get into trunk w/o keys and trunk opener. Keys are locked in trunk and button inside car is locked.

Using your keyless entry on the keypad, press the 5 digit code to get into the door and press the 6 key immediately after. Lincoln has several codes in addition to the 5 digit keyless entry like pressing the 3 to open all the doors, the 6 for the trunk and pressing the last 2 buttons at the same time to lock the doors.
