Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Montero

1 Answer

"Clunking" noise in rear of 1990 Honda CRX Si w/271,000 miles. I recently replaced all springs & struts all the way around. A 2000 TSB from Honda indicates this is a "failure" of the lower trailing arm bushing(s). I have researched and found info, but can anyone tell me the approximate size of these bushings to replace? I went to an aftermarket parts supplier and purchased bushings. They just seem to be too large @ 3" across & approx 8.5" long. The one on the trailing arm that the strut bolts too seems to be not much larger than maybe 1.5" across? Can someone explain what I bought and where is an "inexpensive" supplier of the bushings I need?

Try a salvage yard rather than a parts store on the 1990 Honda CRX.

When is the recommended mileage to change the shocks/struts on my 2007 Honda Pilot?...currently about 45k miles...

HONDA Pilot struts do not require replace at specific mileage intervals or maintenance. Your vehicle’s struts should be checked annually. Struts wear out slowly and you may not notice gradual losses in ride comfort, handling and control. Excessive bouncing, rocking back and forth, drifting or nose- diving while braking, swaying, or cupping wear on the tires are some signs that your vehicle may have worn Struts. If you are purchasing new Struts for your HONDA Pilot consider premium Struts. Upgrading your struts usually improves overall ride quality, control and handling. Warn struts can increase the wear of tires, ball joints, steering linkage, springs and C.V. joints. Some original struts may be getting weak after 40,000 or 50,000 miles.

Failure symptoms: Vehicle continues to bounce after hitting bumps in roadway. Front suspension dives severely during hard braking. Swaying or rolling when at higher speeds. Signs of oil leaking from the shock rod seal. Clunking and banging noises coming from the strut may be signs of internal shock failure or strut mounts.

How do you install adjustable lowering coilover springs on a 1991 Honda CRX SI?

NOT NECESSARILY IN ORDER: Remove the 2 nuts from the top of your shock tower under the hood - remove the pivot bolt at the bottom of your shock fork - remove the upper control arm ball joint nut - remove the lower control arm ball joint nut - bang on the thick metal near the ball joints with a hammer (not hitting the rubber or the ball joint's bolts - remove the tie rod ball joint nut and do the same with the hammer - pull the shock and spring assembly out - You might need a spring compressor to take out the stock spring safely - remove the nut on top of the shock - It's recommended that you replace your shocks now - install the new springs according to the directions with the package - get a camber correction kit for your car - put it back together and immediately go pay for an alignment. Good luck.

2002 Odyssey. Clunking noise from frontend

Hello! When you had the struts replaced, were the strut mounts also replaced? If not, these are often the source of creaking, or clunking noises. However - this could also be from worn or loose sway bar bushings, or outer tie rod connections. All of these can be surmised by a mechanic within a matter of minutes.

I hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa!

1990 honda crx si, 1.6 transmission

No dipstick...you verify by havin car first on level ground then. Then when on stable ground remove the 17mm filler plug on upper passenger side of transmission.if fliud flows out of filler plug than level is fine.if does not flow out whenplug removed.RECOMMEND STRONGLY using a honda brand manual transmission fluid in this transmission..it does wonders for shifting or gearing issues.

1990 honda crx si transmission trouble

this is not the problem of fluid, this is a major problem of transmission. The transmission must be detached from the engine, which you cant do by yourself. the transmission can be repaired but i dont know mechanics in your do it. otherwise you have to replace the transmission.

2003 Mitsubishi Galant ES Clunking noise

the first thing i would check is the sway bar bushings they usualy go first. you have a bushing out somwhere. ive replace many struts because people have requested new struts and when we install them they come back and complain that the clunk is still there and all it needed was a bushing kit for $20
hope this helps
