Question about Dodge Intrepid

3 Answers

I have a code P0172 code, took apart the intake and cleaned all the sensors. Gonna check PCV valve tomorrow. Is there anything else to cause this problem? Also is it worth trying to repair the blower motor resistor (has only high), I'm handy with electronics. Thank you for your time, Benny

  • Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary
  • Clean the MAF sensor. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling
  • Inspect fuel lines for cracks, leaks, or pinches
  • Check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail
  • Check the fuel injectors, they may be dirty. Use fuel injector cleaner or get them professionally cleaned/replaced.
  • Check for an exhaust leak before the first oxygen sensor (this is unlikely to cause the problem, but it is possible)
  • Blower motor relay is a good fix cause it breakes down the voltage for blower speeds wich is controled from the head inside the car.

    Po172 is too rich condition.
Perhaps an O2 sensor is causing the problem, or a sensor that control fuel delivery.

My 06 cobalt has these codes can anyone tell me what they mean? Are they an expensive fix? p0446,p0455, p0172

    code p0446 refers to evaporative emission (EVAP) system-vent control-circuit malfunction===causes --wiring--EVAP canister purge valve--ECM
code p0455 refers to EVAP system-large leak detected===causes --hose connections--intake leak--EVAP canister---EVap canister purge valve
code p0172 refers to system too rich, bank 1===causes intake blocked---EVAP canister purge valve--fuel pressure ---EGR system---injector/s ---ECM
because the EVAP purge valve appears in all codes I would be inclined to change that unit first the run the fault codes again

(171,172) replace MAF , replace air filter with o.e. type (1130) Check vac. lines and connectors to vac. solenoids
(1320) ignition coil primary failure, if all connections are good, replace all the coils

I have dodge grand caravan sport the check engine is on the code is P0172 say sistem too reach bank 1

code p0172 refers to system too rich bank 1===causes --intake blocked (air filter) EVAP canister purge valve---fuel pressure---EGR system--injectors--HO2S (oxygen sensor). The first thing to check would be the oxygen sensor and air filter. Then check the fuel pressure in the fuel manifold to check for fuel pump/filter/ pressure relief valve that may be causing an injector fault

Solution for code p0172 on kia 2001 magentis

code p0172 refers to system too rich bank 1 probable cause intake b;ocked----EVAP canister purge valve---fuel pressure. EGR system injectors--- and the oxygen sensor HO2S Check for dirty air cleaner first.and then I would replace the oxygen sensor with a genuine unit only as the settings for after market units are not always compatable with the cpu settings.

2001 Hyundai Santa fe 4 cylinder, code p0172 ice had all the o sensors replaced exhaust replaced, my mechanic just replaces the sensors and reseeding codes, 2 days later the light comes on and I burn...

I would be checking the intake for any leaks as far as vacuum leaks around intake gaskets injectors, pcv valve ect that is a lean code and even can set from exhaust leaks at flex pipe

Cleaned throttle body on chevy 03 1500. Now has high idle about 1200 rpm and surges up and down?

    Hi.

    Check the following in order:

IAC valve wiring, connectors and vacuum hoses.
Look for vacuum hoses that are not connected in general.
EGR valve wiring, connectors and vacuum hoses.
    PCV system.
Wiring to the two sensors in the air intake.
Check position of the air intake for leaks. Tighten its screws.
    Check wiring in general.
Do a code scanning if you have not found anything so far, check wiring of ECM and O2 sensors.

If the car idles up and down there may be an air leak from air intake or IAC, EGR, there may be a vaccuum leak or PCV system may be malfunctioning. Those are the things to check first and with more attention.

    Regards.

MAF sensor code P0102. Changed senor, pcv valve, cleaned egr valve, checked intake filter, connections, etc still get code. Not sure where to look next. 3.8 liter 2002 chevy Impala

Check for vacuum leaks at intake, and snorkel. Moniter short term fuel trims. Check Freeze frame of when code P102 sets. Make sure you are using stock air filter system aftermarket filters cause havoc.

    What is code P0171?

    P0171

A lean fuel condition can be caused by:

    * Low fuel pressure due to a weak pump or leaky fuel pressure regulator. (use a fuel pressure gauge to check fuel pressure at idle)

    * Dirty fuel injectors. (try cleaning the injectors)

    * Vacuum leaks at the intake manifold, vacuum hose connections or throttle body. (Use a vacuum gauge to check for low intake vacuum)

    * Leaky EGR valve. (Check operation of EGR valve)

    * Leaky PCV Valve or hose. (Check valve and hose connections)

    * Dirty or defective Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF). (Try cleaning the MAF sensor wires or filament with aerosol electronics cleaner. Do NOT use anything else to clean the sensor, and do not touch the sensor wires
