Question about 1989 Ford Ranger

1 Answer

The ford ranger that we have is a 1989 model. The problem is that you can bring up the rpm up out of gear. But as soon as you place the vehicle into gear it bogs out. We've check all the censors and also the vacuum and fuel lines. We were wondering if this could be the main computer that has went bad. And yes also the the O2 censor seams to be working fine.

When I place my 2002 ford ranger in 4 wheel drive Hi, the passenger side rear tire acts like the brake is on for a moment then not then again as the truck is moving?

Sounds like a tooth missing from the rear differential gear that drives that wheel....good's expensive to replace because the axle needs to be pulled.

The heater core in our 1989 ford ranger went out, my husband says he can fix it instead of buying one, can this be done?

As a rule the late model vehicles use such thin material in the core ,repair is not possible, for the price of a new one ,I would suggest he not waste his time on repair.

I have an '89 Ford ranger stick shift that dosn't want to shift gears initally when it's like 20 degrees or so. Any way to fix this besides just letting it warm up? Thanks.

At very cold temperature the Transmission fluid becomes very dense, but it thins as it warms. Let the engine warm up, as your doing now is one way to work around the problem, but you may do better by taking it to a tranny repair place for a cleaning and adjustment.

Overdrive is designed for highway use, to lower the engine's rpm's and conserve fuel. It will not hurt your vehicle to drive it in drive in the city.
