Depends on what needs to be replaced just pads shouldnt cost you more than 75$

    Why wouldn't you do everything yourself
    Buy quality raybestos ceramic pad
    Have rotors turned at parts store
    Clean off all rust and lube hub flange,both sides of caliper mounting surfaces,and pad abutments.
    Only the will it be done right
    Flush all four wheels,every year

Sounds like you need a brake job performed and the system completely checked over. Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder, and also make sure your parking brake is not applied by pulling the parking brake release lever.

I have a 2004 dodge dakota my brakes work but when i press them they make a sound like they are releasing air

there is no problem the master cylinder is connected to a vacuum device called a brake booster when you press brakes it sucks air out of it it is the big black round thing connected to master cylinder which is the metal thing under brake fluid holder

My mechanic is telling me my dodge dakota needs a valve job, does anyone know how much it would cost for a 2006 dodge dakota?

valve job ,or hydraulic tappets ,because modern vehicles use stelite coated valves and seats and they never wear out of need grinding as a rule unless it has a million miles on the clock and even then i doubt if they would need doing

no it is not if you have a impact to take the hub nuts off, the rest is just removing brakes and the bolts that hold the hub assembly on.

2004 dodge dakota. brake lights not working but bulb is good. taillights and turn signals are working. Is there a mechanical switch by the brake pedal to look for??

there is a switch above the brake pedal that turns the brake lights on when u depress the pedal, use a volt meter set to DC volts and check for voltage to the switch and out of it when the brake pedal is depressed, see p[icture of switch belowe364f34.jpg

Under the dashboard, usually on the drivers side right around your knees..check your owners manual for which fuse is the brake light fuse if the fuse cover doesn't have the info on it....
