Question about 2004 Saturn ION

2 Answers

Received a recall letter regarding the electric power steering one week ago and a message came on the dash about problem with power steering. When I tried to start the car all I hear was a clicking sound. I tried jumping it but still only a clicking sound and we tried a fully charged battery starter to give it more juice but still heard only the clicking sound. The car is an automatic and is in my garage but it will not shift out of park into neutral. It's frozen in park. Is the electrical problem with the power steering also causing the car to not start and the transmission problem?

It does sound like low voltage. Check battery termanels really good. Even if you put a fully charged battery in it and the same happened if there is a bad connection in the termanels it will do the same thing. Even if you had a bad started there would still have voltage to take it out of park. Could be why your P/S light came on also.

SOURCE: 2001 Saturn L300 transmission shifter does not

Almost all newer cars have a safety that won't allow you to shift without a foot on the brake. These are either cable or electric solenoid activated. They fail, so check your owners manual, as it will have the procedure to get it to shift, untill you can get it fixed correctly.

I have a 08 Toyota Yaris....a week ago I took it in for recall repairs airbag/steering cable/seat track, now all dash lights are on and flickering just lost power steering and radio lights flickering and...

the problems indicate hat the recall was not done by tradesman in toyota but by an apprentice or other person
take it back because you have the legal right to have the car returned in the same condition or better than when it went in
all at toyota expense as it is rework on the workshop

How to add power steering fluid on a Pontiac g6 2006

It may not have Hydraulic Power Steering , could be Electronic Power Steering .If you look up under the dash under the steering column an see a electric motor on the steering column, well then you have electric power steering ! If hydraulic look at the driver side of the engine , it runs off the cam shaft ! GM had a recall on the electric power steering a few years back ! Good luck ,hope this helps you out .

Electric Power Steering

Call the dealership and ask for the service department and tell them that you would like them to check and see if your vehicle has any recalls and they will use the vin number for your vehicle to check this. If the recall has not been completed than it will show so. Safety recalls do not expire once they pull up the recall schedule an appointment to have it completed. Hope this helps.

2006 Chevy Malibu - the power steering comment came on the screen and it isn't handling right. Where is the power steering reservoir to fill it?

Your 06 Malibu has electric assist power steering. There is no reservoir, or pump for that matter. A previous problem of this sort was on the website a couple of weeks ago, and someone had mentioned that there was a recall for this problem. Call your Chevrolet dealer and inquire.
