Fuel water separator

Their is a cable with a tee handle on it next to your trans dipstick , always grab the tube with one hand and pull with other or you will break the bracket that\'s attached to it . If this has been done regularly you will not have an issue , the drain tube goes down the engine on the right side and usually soaks your front axle. But if you are replacing the fuel filter you have to remove the air cleaner box and also the silencer box to access the filter . My advise is not to use drain valve , suck out as much fuel as you can and then thoroughly clean out that fuel bowl before you install the filter .I have seen many of these powerstrokes with low power issues stemming from lack of maintenance. Make sure you change your oil regularly 5-6000 miles and if you live in a cold weather state you need to use 10w30 motor craft diesel oil , it works the best with those injectors

Drain water separator light on, will not start

for water to drain out there has to be a means for the fuel to be replaced. most probably the fuel didn't flow in as the water ran out so air got in as the water was coming out. That means that you will have to bleed the air out of the fuel system the same as if you changed a filter.

Have a 2003 jeep liberty, 3.7L 6 cyl, had a misfire on spark plug #2 , replaced it, no codes appear, says passed. But still seem to sense a misfire, runs like there is a misfire, and when first starting...

Hello, sounds like you should get a compression test for the bank with number 2 cylinder. I am going by your statement about the Antifreeze smell. You could also do a fuel quality check and replace the fuel filter while doing this. Put the fuel in a glass jar and wait a day if necessary to see if the fuel separates. Bad fuel would also account for a rough idle and the smell.

The newer fuels we have today can separate and also attract water from the atmosphere. The Evap may have been a sign that the system was open to the atmosphere. Before doing major motor work, you may want to "smoke test" the Evap system. This requires a special machine some shops have.

I am curious to the condition of the old number 2 plug and if it looked corroded from the antifreeze. An alternative would be to remove the sparkplugs and crank the engine when it is cold from sitting overnight. Then observe if antifreeze or water was blown out the sparkplug holes.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

I have a peugeot 4007 and it is coming up on the electronic display remove water in separator? what does that mean and is it safe to drive?

It means your fuel system has a water trap to separate the water from the fuel. It is getting full of water and needs to be drained before it begins to let water back into the fuel system. If that happens, your engine will run very badly.

Water in fuel light comes on, engine won't start, profuse white smoke on cranking. Trying to find fuel filter/separator, but unable to.

If this an e 350 between 93 and 2003, the fuel filter is located on top of engine front. You will have to take air filter box off to get to it, the fuel filter housing has a lever on the side to drain water. Always a good idea to use fuel conditioner, especially in the winter. Will help disperse the moisture in the fuel. Remember after changing the fuel filter, you will have to bleed the fuel system. bleed it by cranking engine until it starts, if the vehicle has a mechanicle fuel pump ( 98 or earlier) later modles have an electric pump. System may be primed by cycling the electric fuel pump 2 or 3 times. Please me feedback if this helps. This is is the only way we know if we helped you with a problem

I may have water in the fuel system on a 2003 citroen berlingo 1.9diesel, how do I check it and get rid of the water if it is there?

the first thing you have to do is remove the fuel filter and dump the fuel from inside it into a pan so that you can inspect the fuel as you know the water does not mix with diesel so they will separate, if you do have water ,the fuel tank will have to be drained, but if you only see small bubbles of water then i say run it the filter will catch the water but you will have to change the filter a few more times before you run tank empty.

Hard starting have changed fuel filter four times in two weeks

Either carry a lot of fuel filters or drain the fuel tank after it sits for a full two days, You have water in the fuelor a ton of algae. Confirm the water by pouring out the fuel filter. Any water will be obvious. The water in the tank will separate from the fuel if left standing. Then the water can be drained out the bottom of the tank.Water in the fuel can blow tips off injectors so take heed. and good luck.If you don't have a fuel water seperator, consider having a RACOR separater installed.
