It's a 2004 dodge status and it must have stayed on a good portion of the night until the battery died, and the battery is 2 mos. old.

The fan on my jeep won't go off when i turn off my ignition and is draining my battery. What should I do?

I ASSUME YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT THE RADIATOR FAN. THERE IS A TEMP SENDING UNIT THAT TELLS THE FAN WHEN TO OPERATE. THE SENSOR IS PROBERLY BAD. THERE ARE 2 SENSORS, 1 FOR THE LIGHT/GAUGE AND 1 FOR THE ECM. DISCONECT THE SENSOR IF FAN GOES OFF REPLACE IT, IF IT STAYS ON CHECK THE FAN RELAY. UNPLUG IT ,IF FAN GOES OFF NOW THEN RELAY HAS FAILED

You could have a bad relay for the fan or the sensor that sends a signal to turn the fan on is "wanting the fan to stay on. It don't know to turn off.

Blower stays on when ignition is turned of.

The sensor is probably defective as it keeps the fan on regardless of water temp. Get it replaced.

Electric fans runs after car is shut off, drains battery

Having the fan run on for a bit after the engine has stopped is not abnormal in itself, but 20 minutes sounds excessive.

If the fan does eventually shut off, I'd consider changing the thermoswitch (this is a sensor screwed into the radiator somewhere near the bottom, with a pair of wires connected to it - to change it, you'll need to drain the cooling system).

If the fan stays on continuously until the battery is completely flat, see what happens when you unplug the wires from the thermoswitch. If this stops the fan, you need to replace the thermoswitch. If it doesn't, then you need to examine the wiring associated with the switch and the fan, looking for damaged insulation.
