Have you checked the fuel pump for any blockage? The car isnt getting any gas unless u manually pump it by pressing the pedal.. So start there
Sometimes when a engine requires excessive revving and throttle to stay afloat its a fuel supply problem. A clogged filter for example can be overcome with excessive throttle that drives the fuel pressure up enough to force it through, but it will barely trickle at idle and stall.

Usually the dead give away for fuel pump is when someone complains they have to floor it as soon as it turns over or it will die right away.

My truck turns on, idles fine but when i give it gas it only goes about 3 mph. when i want to excellerate it goes nowhere

Not quite everything is fine.
Is the check engine light on ?
When you push on the gas pedal, does the engine speed change ?
Can you rev up the engine in park ?
What have you checked so far ?

My 2001 tacoma v6 turns off everytime i get to a stop sign or let the gas go. rpm goes down and turns off. no check engine lights go on.

Sounds like your Idle air control motor has failed. It does not give a check engine light when it fails either. Replace and you will get your idle back.

While driving the car idles constantly then suddenly the RPM meter goes down to zero and car cuts off. Why?

timing could be off, engine not getting enough gas,or an ignition problem. email me at chuckie12_87@yahoo.com with any questions.

Oil light stays on when I start engine but goes off after a while

When you give it gas or idle for awhile the pressure will build up to normal and turn off the light.

If you are consuming oil and coolant you should check your head gasket also.

Truck will not stay running without giving gas after a jump off

when the battery goes dead it looses its memory on engine settings like idle speed.. two things you can do first one is to clean the throttle bore with carb cleaner... the other is to start with foot on gas and slowly bring it back to idle... it will pick up the idle air position to keep itself running if you do it slowly... everything happens over time so as the throttle gets dirty the computer makes these adjustment on its own and when the battery dies it starts out basicly at different percentage of idle control tht it really needs because of the carbon buildup on the throttle plates
