First check the battery cables both of them,i have seen acid get into the cable and eat the cable inside and the cable looks good on the outside, look for any swelling of the cable, then check the grounds to the motor and the body, the starter also ,then the terminal block where it goes into the firewall,it can be corroded, there is a bolt in the center of it you can unscrew and it will come off to check the connections, hope this helps,if it does please leave a thumbs up rating,

Where is the door lock relay on my 1991 gmc vandura?

The relay makes a clicking noise when you press the lock button it's not the relay that's the problem. You may have a bad lock motor or what it's called a solenoid. When it's energized it moves. The problem is the get wet or dirty they jam up and stop working. So if you know for sure it's getting power or not getting power. Could be the lock switch could be the issue also. Removing the door panel and test the solenoid first to make sure that works then can test wires or fuses.

Check battery connections and battery fuse. Battery may not be large enough for the size of your van

My 1982 Ford F150 is completely electricly dead. No brake lights no ignition, head lights of dash. Battery is good with new cables, ignition lock, ignition switch, starter relay and electronic regulater....

It sounds to me that if your battery is good and you are not getting any power to flow thru out the truck, I would check my negitive battery cable to be absoulutely sure it is ggrounded. Power will not flow if the truck is not properly grounded.

1987 GMC VanDura electric fold-down seat

If it's anything like my 1994 Vandura, you have a small panel of rocker switchers above the rearview mirror for turning your interior lights and other gadgets(tv, vcr, etc) off and on.

The leftmost switch on mine moves the electric bench seat up and down, *and* forward and back. The trick is that you have to hold it down to make it move.

With mine, even though there are four actions:
- slide seat forward
- slide seat backward
- fold seat down
- fold seat up
there is only one rocker switch.

So what you do is hold "up" on the switch and see what it does. If it slides the seat in either direction, up for your van is for both sliding forward *and* back. To do the opposite direction, just wait a second then press the same button the same way a second time.

If up makes it fold, it's the same principle. Hold the rocker switch depressed in the up position to make it fold up. Wait a moment and repeat to make it go down.

It wasn't intuitive for me either but once you know and play with it a bit it makes sense. Probably better than having four switches up there anyway :)

Good luck!

Van dies when I turn on the headlights!

I think you have a short where the wiring harness plugs into the fuse block .I'ts located on the
firewall, just above the battery. Look at the lower left corner for signs of a hot spot, melting or
burned wire.
