To correct this problem which is caused by a sludged up automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve I want you to get a can of intake cleaner (ABOUT $5.00) from any local auto parts store like NAPA or Carquest, do not use carburetor spray, intake cleaner only or u will damage the Teflon coating inside the throttle valve and air bypass valve, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

I have a 1987 gmc shortbox pickup with a 305. it has the throttle body. i cannot get it to run properly. when it idols you can smell fuel. it will eventually die when idoling. almost like its flooding out....

Sound's like running rich, you need to scan your computer and check data for ect sensor (coolant temp sensor ) if bad temp reading will run rich and map sensor, both act like a chock in your truck, check for vacuum at map sensor do not disconnect harness from sensor or will give you code for map sensor .Hope this was helpful.

Car drops idol when coming to a stop or when

use a crab spray in the throttle body and clean the black carbon right before the intake of the throttle plate.
take off the intake tube and have someone else open and close the throttle with the engine off of course.spray all the black stuff aronud the throttle plate or butterfly plate and make it nice and clean in there.use a very clean cloth rag .

hope this helps.

Oil light turns on at idol, and almost dies at idol has oil

Replace your fuel filter and airfilter. If this doesn't work - you may need a new coil pack or cap and rotor if it has a distributor; if this is the case, change the spark plugs and plug wires.
