Question about 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1993 jeep grand cherokee...i seem to have water leaking in on passenger side of car seems to be coming from under dash....behind the padding that shields the car from the firewall. How do i get a manual to see the firewall?....is it possible for something to be clogged? someone mentioned perhaps the silicone needed to be redone between the fender and the firewall...but not sure how to do that.

If you've been using the AC its more likely that the water is coming from the evaperator....there's supossed to be a drain pipe from the housing and through the floor....If not I think you'd better have the cabin heat units checked for integrity....A workshop with a cooling system test kit will be able to do that from the radiator cap....have it checked urgently as it can cause over heating if its the cabin heat unit leaking....Regards Johngee

no,. the car only takes on water when it rains.......down pours.....on the passenger side of the car....nothing to do with the ac

  • Okay....I think the person to help you would be a found in a panel shop....Seems you have a leakage, probably from the screen....Has the vehicle been involved in an accident?....If not, have a good look at the screen fitting, it may be possible to fix it yourself, but it could be a large undertaking, maybe involving the removal of the dash and all the stuff behind it, that's to do it so its fixed....I've taken out a lot of dash, but not from the vehicle you're talking about....Its a time consuming job....if you want to do a professional job the key is carefull disassembly and making sketches and notes as you're going....If you need the vehicle in a hurry, I'd advise against you taking it on....Regards Johngee

Nice SUV, I have the same (check here) with 5.2L V8; you are probably correct in your diagnosis location, sound like a clogged A/C drain hose. It's a very common thing to happen.

If your vehicle has an A/C drain hose, it will be located on the engine side of the firewall, below where the two A/C lines go through the firewall.

Check this DIY link to solve it... aircondition_tech

Good luck (remember to rate this answer).

When I give my car the gas or stop I hear a swooshing of water coming from under the dashboard

Uh oh, sounds to me like your heater core is leaking, and I also am willing to bet that if you feel your floor boards, they will be soaked with water. Most are difficult to change, but you need a new heater core installed. Keep an eye on your coolent lvl, you car might start overheating. heare is what one looks like:8007f164-d248-480b-9fe7-6465ba789138.gifand it is located under, behind your dash on passenger side. You may have to revove most of the dash to get to it. If you want to try this job yourself, google : 2001 jeep grand cherokee heater core replacement.

Condensation water from air conditioner soaking front and rear passenger carpets. Where is drain located?

98 grand cherokee limited 5.2L same problem found leak not from heater box but from drain mount on firewall under the glove box not behind it. drain line should be located behind right front tire in the frame. Turn your wheels hard left look inside fender well right side towards back side. hole in frame where drain line should come out.

I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee straight 6 with 102000 miles i just found what appears to be water leaking inside the cabin under the passanger side seat and rear left side.

The drain for the water coming from the ac is clogged. Clean it up. It's easier to do that from underneath the car - the drain is located on the firewall.

Water leaks below dash on passenger side.

if it is pure water and not antifreeze then i would say the drain is blocked. check under your hood on the firewall around heat/ac for your drain tube

Maybe. If you have a fixed antenna on that side of the vehicle, the large rubber gromet on the wire leading into the passenger compartment may have come out, allowing lots of rain water to enter the vehicle. Happened on my 94 and flooded the passenger side.

Antifreeze leak under dash, passenger side

Nothing special. lots of patience and don't poke any holes in it, don't pinch any wires under box and remember to plug in anything you disconnected going in!
