Question about 1997 Pontiac Grand Am

1 Answer

My 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix had a leak at a plastic L shaped heater hose fitting that is located just above the water pump. I found the replacement part Dorman HELP #47065, but when trying to pull old one, it crumbled leaving the quick connect O-ring ends still inside the fittings they were in. I am tempted to just scrape out the remains to replace the new one but am worried about damage to other parts. Any advice?

What u are doing is what a professional would do except add the fallowing, when u are done getting all the large debris out take some medium grit emery cloth (avail from any parts store or hardware) and sand/hone the surface smooth, any nicks or gouges must be eliminated or you can have a poss leak, also coat the rubber seals with a thin coating of silicone rubber sealant, this will further assure you will have no leaks.

I have a 2006 pontiac grand prix and it is leaking coolant and we can not find where it is leaking from. We replaced the water pump gasket and it still leaks. It looks like it is leaking from something...

have a pressure test done so that you can see where it is leaking from.. If it is in the side of the block it may be a rusted welsh plug. Check inside the car for a leaking heater core and hoses . Check the drain hole under the water pump as it may be leaking from that hole while the pump is running ( water pump seal)

find the bleed valve on coolant system and burp it. make sure you are using a good 50/50 mix of coolant.
maybe run a coolant system cleaner . maybe a clog?

How to replace the heater hose fitting for 2006 pontiac grand prix

Drain approximately two-thirds of the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir. Lift the rear of the Pontiac Grand Prix off the ground with a car jack. These engines like the 3.8 usually have a intake leaking problem. Also the have plastic elbows on the passengers side of intake that go to heater hoses can leak also. Is it a 3.8 liter engine in your car. And where abouts does the fluid look like its coming from.

Leak in hose coming off of fire wall in pontiac grand prix gtp 2004

If the leak is water, this is a heater hose and is really easy to replace. If this is not water or coolant, tell me what kind of fluid is leaking from the hose and I will help you identify what you need.

1994 pontiac grand prix leaking water

It sounds like either the heater valve which may be located inline with a 5/8" hose or 3/4" hose or the heater core is leaking, a heater core is like a small radiator.
