Question about 1998 Honda Civic
Unfortunately, the drivers side door panel will have to be broken. you have to unscrew all screws holding the door panel on, then pull really hard. pull it back and see if you can find an inner plate near the window that you can remove. this will grant you access to the rods and such. this is done from inside the car, and to get in if youre locked out, get a coat hanger, make a hook, and send it through the trim on the passenger side to pull the handle.
do the passenger side first. at least youll be able to enter your car. there are small plugs covering the screws. after all screws are undone, it will pop off. there are clips that secure it in place, and will probably need to be replaced when done due to them being brittle, old plastic. start removing the panel from the bottom. it will become very apparent how the panel comes off.
