How to replace the power steering pump on 1998 Nissan Frontier

It can be complicated for the novice. It is not a "bolt-on" accessory. You must remove the serpentine belt, disconnect the pressure and return lines, drain and remove the reservoir, then unbolt and remove the pump. The new pump does not come with a pulley, so the pulley must be transferred from the old pump. This is a pressed-on pulley and needs a special tool to remove and replace without breaking it. Noting the position of the pulley on the shaft is important for proper belt alignment. Once the pulley is transferred, you will need to reattach the reservoir to the pump. This may require new o-rings (usually not supplied). Then bolt the new pump in place. Reattach the pressure and return lines with new o-rings (may not be supplied), refill the reservoir, install the serpentine belt, and then bleed the system following the installation instructions that come with the pump. If you do not use new o-rings during the replacement process, it is almost a certainty that you will experience leaks.

Find/locate thermostat on a Nissan Frontier truck 1998

Follow the top radiator hose to the engine. The hose is attached to a metal housing which is bolted to the engine. Remove the bolts holding the housing onto the engine and lift the housing to expose the thermostat. Lift it out, remove all traces of gasket from the engine and the housing, then install the new thermostat and gasket.
