Code p2187 and engine kight

I have checked the data sheet and I have no reference for the code you have given. All I can tell you is that it could be a poor or no connection to the air heater element or a wiring harness fault near the air intake air pipe.

I have a 2006 Kia Sedona, which we purchased new. The "check engine light" stays on almost all of the time and has since the vehicle was 6 months old. We've had it in the shop at least a dozen...

Mr friend had this same issue on an 06, since new. After many times in the shop, they replaced the entire ECM. Problem Solved. It was defective from new.

2006 Optima - engine code p2187-how to correct -

Take the car to a place like Autozone, Kragen, O'reilly auto parts etc. They will hook up their hand held analyzer to your car, read the code, and then give you a print out of what it is. All for free, probably a oxygen sensor or some type of sensor. take care.

Engine code P2187 pops up. Also had miss in cyl 1 but resolved by changing long overdue plugs. Now P2187 comes on again (Lien at idle) Any suggestions before I bring it in. Vehicle has 145K miles. Runs...

P2187 = "system too lean at idle, bank 1"

The problem is in the bank of cylinders that includes cylinder 1. Running too lean at idle can often be caused by an air leak between the mass air flow sensor and the throttle body, a leaky intake manifold gasket, or some other vacuum leak. "False air" is downstream of the MAF sensor so it is not measured. The computer only attempts to add the correct amount of fuel to air that it knows about. It will attempt to compensate for lean mixtures but at a certain point, it will turn on the check engine light.

The miss that you had on cylinder one was caused by two things; the false air leaning out the mixture and a worn plug. You replaced the plug and now that new spark plug is able to fire the lean mixture. But the false air remains to be corrected. Eventually, you'll have misfiring again.

What does code p2189 and p2187 mean on kia sadona 2006 inspection rejected

code p2189 and p2187 = air/fuel mixture too lean on both cylinder banks which in turn generates excessive emissions = failed inspection.
What can cause a lean mixture:
- Incorrect main charge signal
- Intake air system leaking
- Fuel pressure too low
- Volume supply of fuel pump too low
- Mechanical fault in injectors
- PCV valve leaks
- Leaks in exhaust system
- EVAP canister purge valve mechanically faulty (hangs open)
All these must be checked.
