Question about 1996 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

My 96 camry is having a hard time accelerating. I'm guessing the transmission is about to go out!? the car is still kinda driving but I am stepping on the petal all the way down! It is in drive and the RPM will go to 5 before the car starts to move. Feels like I'm in first gear the whole time. The funny thing is that I jus bought a whole new radiator and the trans start to act funky and on my last car, a 96 Lexus es, I bought A new radiator and the transmission goes out? Is there problems wit new radiators and old transmission. But all together, is there any way to save my 96 camry?

U do indeed have a slipping transmission, by now it is burnt to a crisp, no u can't save it, once the clutches are worn out and start slipping the transmission will need to be overhauled, I assume you have checked the fluid level and it is at least showing on the dipstick with hot engine, so check the flluid level. A new radiator would not cause the transmission to fail.

Fuel supply system problems. Take by your auto parts store, they may help by reading the error codes to diagnose the problem. My best guess is fuel pump or fuel pump relay, or fuel filter.

Not much power from a V-6 engine

1. Replace Fuel pump and
2. Replace Transmission.

But you can also do a scan.

Cheers.

1996 Dodge Ram Transmission shifting problem

I had the same problem with my 96 Ram 1500. I thought I was going to have to pull it out and get it rebuilt or just replace it. That was at 134,000Km it's now got 210,000 and shifting like a dream. What I did to solve the problem was this, as follows:
1. No lucas transmission Fix makes things worse.
2. Get your self a new transmission filter and gasket
3. Grab Gunk transmission medic 12oz
4. Grab 7 Liters of Valvoline ATF+4 transmission fluid (Made for chrysler transmissions)
5. Drop the trans pan and drain all the oil, clean pan and magnet
6. start truck for 5 seconds and the pump will pour out another 1 liter
7. re-install filter, gasket and pan, then add your Valvoline ATF+4
8. Add, the valvoline, transmission medic and make sure you have the right level of fluid

That solved my transmission problems, instantly it was shifting better, I no longer had to let off the gas to make it shift. Now if you have large pieces of metal on the magnet, and it's totally covered in filings, you might want to consider rebuilding the trans. My magnet had usual clutch.

Anyhow good luck, let me know if it did the trick for you.
