Engine was ruuning hot pd 800. to have it repaired 5 days later the head gaskets blew. is that normal?

Head gasket blowing is not normal. Need a clue as to what the 800 bucks went to doing, to know if related or not. If the head gasket fails, just replacing the gasket does not fix the issue, the gasket is a victim. There will be something else wrong, like warpage or cracks. AND this may not be the issue causing the overheating...

Engine propblem

usually when you get white smoke its because ur head gasket blew mixing antifreeze and engine oil look at ur oil and see if its a milky white color.car will not start beacuse ur loosing compression threw the gasket blowing..

Here in the US the NTSB can be contacted online or by phone. National Traffic Safty Board surely has a Canadian counterpart. They will have a list of TSB(technical Service Bullitins) and recalls. But it's 15 years old and they probably don't apply anymore. 251 K is pretty long life though. I had 362K on a GMC 350, then it blew the head gasket too.

Coolant problems related to transmission?

tran should be ok need to take head to repair shap and be sure head is ok and not cracked. thermostat, radiator, or cap, hoses need to be checked to dtermine what caused it to run hot also check engine fan. Pls rate this solution
