Question about Pontiac Aztek

1 Answer

I replace the alternator and battery yesterday. My dash gauges (thermostat, speedometer, fuel, and rmp) are now not working. I have checked all fuses, and now have no idea where to go from here. Hoping you can help asap. Thanks!

You talking about the Tach, in the instrument panel(IP)? Replace the electric motor in the IP. If you have the speedometer, you should have the RMP's/ tachometer. Most likely is the electric motor. very slim chance, it is the ECM/PCM. Nothing to do with the alternator.
But if your talking about the alternator gauge? could still be the IP motor. Could also lead back to the PCM.

On my 2005 trailblazer, the speedometer, along with fuel gauge, continues to get stuck for days at a time. Also have check engine light that will not go off. Have rear heat blower that works, but does not...

MAKE SURE COOLANT NOT LOW.IF ALL IS GOOD.THE DEALERSHIP HAS TO FIX SOUND LIKE PROBLEMS IN THE AUXILIARY HVAC CONTROL MODULE.IT CONTROLS THE HEATER AND AIR DOORS ACTUATOR.THAT COULD BE WHY YOU ARE NOT GETTING HEAT. YOU HAVE A FAULTY CLUSTER IF YOU HAVING SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL GAUGE PROBLEMS.BUT CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE IT SHOULD BE 12.5 VOLTS WITH ENGINE OFF.13.5 VOLTS TO 14.5 VOLTS WITH ENGINE RUNNING.I HAVE SEEN A BAD AND WEAK BATTERY CAUSE DASH GAUGE PROBLEMS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON.IF CAR FAILS THE VOLTS TEST.IF YOU USE A DIGITAL VOLT METER BATTERY WAS NOT 12.5 VOLTS.YOU NEED TO HAVE THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY TESTED.YOU CAN GO TO ADVANCE AUTO OR AUTO ZONE.AND SEARS THEY WILL CHECK TO MAKE SURE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR IS WORKING.THEY WILL DO IT FOR FREE.

I have an 04 chevy silverado v6.3, and my dash doesnt work none of the gauges speedometer, fuel, nothing works, but they did yesterday. What could this possibly be?

The stepping motors in the gauge go bad, but uusually they fail gradually, or just one, The dealer charges $300 to fix, do a search on ebay for CHEVY SILVERADO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER for cheaper repair options. gauges are powered by the pcm, no fuses inbetween, so if it runs ok, problem is in cluster
