Question about 2004 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx
My wife has a 2004 malibu maxx with a 3.5L V6 engine. Lately it has not always been starting with the remote start or with the key. The engine will turn over but not start like there is not enough or no gas getting to the engine. The car does always start after one try of the key, but usually not after one try with the remote start. Is this a sign of other problems with the car? Is there a way to find out the problem code within the computer without having a diagnostic program to run through the OBD II or by taking it to the dealer?
Put a voltmeter on the battery whilst cranking. Sometimes a marginal battery will have a big voltage drop that will cause the engine to crank but not start with the remote starter but it will start with the key. One attempt with the remote puts unburnt fuel in the engine that throws off the next attempt to start with the key.
