Cruise control don't work on my 99 tauras

The cruise is dead

    I checked the brake lights, and changed the speed sensor.

    The sensore I changed because I have a spongey shift from

    1st to 2nd gear and was told that changing the speed sensor

    may fix to birds with one stone (so to speak) but it did'nt.

    back to square one.....

    on my 99 taurus my cruise control wont work me and my shop teacher thought it was the control servo so i replaced the servo still dont work then we did a test off of all data and it said the deactivator switch open or circut dead or something like that and also the cruise light doesnt come on when i turn on the cruise control

Make sure your brake light are working propelly because the cruise circuit is atached to the brake lights and if they don't work then the cruise wpn't either

    did you check all the fuses? and the cable going from the cruise servo to the trhottle?

learn to scan the PCM
learn that cruise is actual dangerous act, (noodle it) and for that fact they have many safety tests it does , before it is allowed
and if you scanned the PCM and see all those DTC errors BINGO why.!
in your mind consider idle controls failing or the transmission
or brake system (ABS?) failing.and more lots more.
the service manual covers all that, I never buy a car unless I can get the service manual next day. (looking before)
you can not fix modern cars lacking a OBD2 scan tool
USA answers only.
things that must be good,
TPS good and if drive by wire , system, it too ,must be good.
EFI controls working , no DTC and for sure idle controls not dead
some cars block cruise of CEL glows .
transmission errors. (why all allow RPM to hit 6000 then a bad clutch pack wakes and car lurches violently so Tannyy NOT BAD.. no errors from it.
brakes system not bad. (or errors from traction controls, future) or ABS.
this is not like olden days 1975 , cruise at all.
the rules are vary strict now . (less lawsuit too)

Engine light on my suzuki sx4 dont turn off when I start my car and the cruise control don,t work done that before but light whent off after a few days and the cruise control worked again
Check engine lamp Glowing while running the engine,
no year SX4 told. nor the engine there.
but CRUISE now (modern designed) is disabled. when CEL glows.
that way CRUISE can not go mad and cause car to wreck, see how that works.?
engine throttle fails!
transmission fails!
and more. brakes lamps dead (all)and more too.
the users guide I guess lost now, told you
CEL on, means get the car serviced in real shop
or buy the scan tool and scan it at the failure.
2 cures told. me.

My cruise control doesn't work??...any
jnjkingbird, It sounds like this problem is the clock spring as I don't believe that the horn and the cruise control would share a fuse. However, they do share a circuit in the clock-spring. You can check for power at each unit (horn and the cruise control) which would confirm this. Check each fuse as well. Good luck with this.

The cruise control and horn quit together, but there is no fuse marked as such.
The horn is protected by fuse #9 (20 Amp), but my diagrams don't show which fuse
controls the cruise control.
Your Voyager has 2 fuse panels - one under the driver's side instrument panel (just to the right
of the parking brake pedal), and one next to the battery, under a plastic cover..

Cruise control on 99 taurus
check your on and off button at the steering wheel.
use a multi-meter set in the ohm postion and see if there is conectivity as you push each button. you will have to take the button off the steering wheel but it will take
just a few minites. while your at it you can check the right side also.
the set-resume-coast.
