They are almost always located on the bottom tank of the engine's radiator. They can have one or two wires (some are grounded to the tank and require only one) and are generally cylindrical with a hex section near the mounting surface to installation and removal.
You will need to catch the coolant when removing it and don't forget, it's a pretty large quantity of liquids.
When I have been in doubt whether one was defective or not, I have attached leads to monitor continuity and heated them in a container on the stove with a candy thermometer in the same water to watch the temperature rise. If OK, they should contact at some value below 212 degrees F.

2000 park ave the cooling fans will not come on fully

check coolant le vel. if fine then your temp sensor is not working properly. one fan only comes on full when the a/c is on the other will only come on as fast as it needs to keep cool. if its not overheating don't worrie. it could also be you need a new thermostate

SOUND LIKE FAULTY OPEN ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR. HAVE CAR HOOK TO CODE SCANNER WHERE YOU CAN SEE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE. IF ENGINE HOT AND CODE SCANNER SHOW LOWER TEMPERATURE LIKE 100 - 80 DEGREES ECT IS BAD.

those wires are probably going down to the crank sensor if that sensor fails then the car will not start so fix the wiring and try replacing the crank sensor.
