Question about 2003 GMC Yukon Denali

1 Answer

Where can I locate my MAP sensor? My Yukon keeps shuting off when i'm driving and it's not the battery. It started to act funny when I turned the heat on and it was starting to loose power then when I drove it it cut off but it would start back up right away. But when i'm driving you can feel it start to loose power then it acts crazy with the ebreak light flashing and the check engine flashing before it cuts off.

A flashing CEL (Check Engine Light) is something serious to be concerned about. A flashing CEL indicates that your vehicle's engine is misfiring, which could severely damage your catalytic converters.
Your best bet ,take it to a qualified repair shop .

On the 1999 - 2000 5.7 vortec engines the distributor gears wear causing the timing to change 2 or more degrees. The ecm is designed to shut down at 2 or more degreedifference. This is in a GM bulletin that recommends replacement at 160k miles. Mine went out at 150k miles. Very similar driving symtoms until it quit running. Both cam sensor codes were set on mine though, not the crank sensor.

SOURCE: Lack of power when accelerating

You really should have a code check done. There are numerous items that can give you similar symptoms. Two places to look are the fuel filter (usually overlooked till they gum up, and the throttle position sensor (but test it first with an ohmeter. You will need a manual (vehicle specific ones are available at most larger parts stores and most of those stores also do code testing free)

I went to go get my car inspected and it wouldn't pass because of a code P0106. I want to explain how my car is acting when started especially when its cold out. The colder it is the worse it starts.

I'd be more inclined to the cold start side of things. Relay, cold start sensor. Water Temp sensor not activating the cold start setting.

The lights going dim could be something else completely

03 yukon loses throttle but stays running for short time let set for few min starts back up and drives replaced acceleration pedal sensor and cleaned throttle body and wwored for bout 2 weeks

In my 2000 sebring I would be driving and lose power no throttle response, everything else still on. It was the crank sensor. Went to auto zone for free scan and that was one of the many that came up. Replaced and everything ran great after that.

The check engine light should be on and when it is the engine controls are in Limp mode. That means the computer is using a pre-set list of settings to try to keep the engine running long enough to get the car to a shop.
You need to get the problem with the MAP sensor fixed and get the light turned off.

1988 ford mustang GT will not turn over acts like it is not getting fuel is it the MAP sensor?

It will not turn over or not start? does it gurgle, but not start that is turning over. May sound like your not getting power from the battery, check battery or starter or starter circuit.

you are right to think it is a sensor. trash can get into the shift solenoids and make a trans act funny. you could drop the pan and replace the solenoids located in the back of the valve body.

If it is like my 94 ranger it is a fuel pump sensor and ignition sensor. Just fixed mine and boy does it scoot. Mine were in a fuse box behind the battery 1in. square black pull out cubes. If you find them. ask a parts place which ones you need. Good Luck, John from Oregon
