Question about 1994 Nissan King Cab

1 Answer

Clutch problems 1994 4 x 4 Hardbody king cab. Cannot shift the truck when running. Can engage gearbox when shut off and clutch holds truck. I know the master and slave cylinders are working but do not know if they are working properly. Cannot get it into gear at all when running. Could this be a gearbox problem and not a clutch problem?

Does the clutch engage very close to the floor? If so it will probably be clutch related, but make sure there is oil in the gearbox before you do anything. Big plug on LH side of gearbox and on rear of transfer case. Both should have just a little bit of oil run out when you take plug out.

My clutch works sometimes and sometimes it don't. I was driving came to a stop, tried to go it sounded like the clutch popped out of gear or something broke. My car wouldn't go so I got towed. but...

A clutch that's failing doesn't behaves like that - it slowly starts slipping until it fails completely and definitely. If it would break suddenly (like when the pressure plate would snap) the noise and the vibrations it would generate would be unbearable.
No, in your case something is failing inside the transmission/gearbox - most likely in the command forks and their locking pins. The gearbox will have to taken off the car and dismantled to investigate and fix that, and it will be expensive.

Clutch failure, can't get it into gear, any ideas what needs to be fixed?

You have to get the gearbox opened and check on the clutch plate and pressure plate. NO OTHER WAY TO SORT OUT THE PROBLEM

I have a 1987 Toyota Celica with a clutch problem, i just had the clutch redone 2 yrs ago. It seems that the free play of the clutch is gone, my pedal just sits right above the point where it would engage...

you ride the clutch excessively ,and slip the clutch between changes ,i can make a clutch last for 200,000kms ,but i have customer who has a new clutch every 6 mths to a year and he does just over 1000kms in that time .he will not use first gear and doesnt change down just rides the clutch to go up hill .he clls it clutch control ,i do not care because i make good money from this cantankerous person who knows how to drive with clutch control ,he even holds it on a hill on the clutch instead of putting handbrake on and then gearbox in neutral -I am just fitting him another clutch today ,the last one was easter last year .

It will probably be a bad bearing in the tranny. I've had it happen to me a couple of times, and found it easier to just swap the tranny with another good used one, than to tear the thing apart, and try to replace the bearing. The clutch has nothing to do with it popping out of gear. Once the bearing goes, the shaft runs on a bit of an angle, and won't stay in gear.

Clutch 1994 mitshubishi galant

If the cluctch does not engage at all, or the clutch pedal is stuck then it is a problem with the clutch gear behind the pedal or with the clutch steel cable, have them checked.

Gearbox from clutch

have you checked the clutch mechanism? for me sounds like the clutch doesn't engage properly or fully rather. Ask your mechanic to check the clutch system fully and check whether it fully engages, or do this check for yourself. Bring car onto a flat surface and shift to 1st while engine being switched off, start it while pressing the clutch (fully down to the floor board) and then release parking break and check for following
whether vehicle is moving
RPM decreases a bit
does engine get loaded and start vibrate or rattle a bit

CLUTCH DEFINITIVE.
SEEM LIKE THE ACTUATOR IS NOT LETTING YOU THROW THE GEARS IN.
IT'S NOT PUSHING ENOUGH
