Hello: Depending on what year, model cadillac, the ECM (engine control module) or the PCM (powertrain control module) provides the ground to fire the injector. To check to see if it is firing you need a node light to connect to the injector and attempt to start the engine and see if the node light illuminates. Using a test light is not recommend as it may require to many amps and destroy the driver in the control module.

, if your ground on your injector is not grounded could you ground it to the body

injectors are usually grounded by the wire to the ecu its how the ecu, if you ground to the engine it may not get a full ground so the ecu will not register the correct voltage to open the injector, if its a bad wire to the ecu just patch out the old wire soldering the new wire to the wiring loom and covering the connection. you can get between a 5% drop on stander earthing than mean the engine would be lean at times and flooding at others.

I have a 2003 s10 blazer 4.3v6 vortec. ok i keep getting hydrolock my #6 keeps feeling up with gas. i changed the sensors bought one new injector and new regulator and still the same.New pcm?

# 6 injector ground side is shorted to ground causing injector to fire constantly . It's probably not the PCM , If injector driver inside the PCM was bad the injector wouldn't fire at all . On the injector there are two wires , one is B+ voltage , the other goes to the PCM . PCM supply's a ground when triggered . How to test fuel injector circuit with basic tools open control wire

What gives the injectors their pule?

with key on there should be battery voltage on one wire at the injector, the other wire is the ground and the ECM grounds the circuit. the cam sensor is the sensor that tells the ECM when to operate the injector to supply fuel to the cylinder. if you have both but no pulse from the injectors it could be the injectors are bad. if your missing the ground then it could be the injector drivers in the ECM.

Has spark no injector pulse has power to the injectors

No pulse means the injector ground side is absent, since you have power to the injectors. The ground wire goes into the engine computer to be internally grounded for the pulse. You can test the injector ground side with a test light, as a verification of it not having pulse. If it really has no pulse, but it has correct voltage to the injector solenoid, then you have a bad injector, or a bad ground wire to the pcm, or a bad pcm.

Use a test light with a ground clip and a needle-type probe. Unplug the injector connector and note which is the power wire terminal and which is the ground wire terminal. Clip the test light lead to the POSITIVE battery post, and put the probe into the injector's ground wire terminal. Now have someone crank the engine over and watch for a blinking light on the tester. If you have a blinking light, the injector ground side is working right, so check if voltage to the injector is correct, or if you have a bad injector. If you have no blinking light, then no pulse is correct. You will need to check the ground wire to the computer before assuming a bad computer. I think they are called quad drivers inside the computer that control the injector grounds.

Best way to check that ground wire is, first, take off the negative battery cable, then pull off the computer connectors, then use an ohmmeter to check resistance of wire from injector terminal to the pin on the computer's connector. Low resistance, low ohms, means the wire is good. ...But first I guess you will have to find the pin-out diagram for the computer, where and on which connector that ground wire goes in at. There's around a hundred or more wires going in, so color coding, tracing by the color of the wire would be a royal pain. Good luck, Scott.

94 Opel kadett 1.6 single injector. Petrol does not seem to get thru for car to start.petrol pump is ok.where could the problem be.

Check the injector circuit. Here's how injectors usually work: when key is on, they have live power available to them. Key on, the circuit is turned on, so power passes through a fuse to the injector on the power wire. (Check the fuse- it's under the hood, most likely.)
To make the injector "pulse" or spray fuel out, the engine computer will internally ground the circuit for a split second. The injector has a power wire to it from that fuse. Then the ground wire at the injector goes into the computer.

If you have a test light, you can test the circuit. First, clip a test light ground lead to negative battery post. With key on, and the injector connector unplugged, check for battery voltage on the power wire. One of the wires should have voltage and will light up the test light. Now, move your test light lead to the battery POSITIVE post. Have a helper be cranking the engine over while you probe the ground wire-the one that did not light up the test light. If the injector circuit ground is good, the test light will now be blinking. (You are putting voltage into the ground wire to the computer, to check if it is properly grounding the circuit. Every time the light blinks, the computer has grounded the circuit.)
If the circuit passes both tests (key on, steady test light on power wire; engine cranking, blinking light on ground wire), then the injector circuit is good. The injector should be pulsing when it is connected and the engine is cranking. If no gas is coming out of the injector, could be that fuel is blocked somewhere (filter?) from reaching the injector, or it could be a shorted injector. Someone with a volt-ohm meter should check the resistance across the injector terminals and compare with manufacturers' specifications. This will determine if the injector is bad.

No injector pulse on cylinder number 6 ?

check for power and ground at the injector harness plug. the computer supplies power all the time with the key on then when the car Is running the computer grounds the circuit to allow the injector to function. if you have no power then you will have to check the wiring to find the open. if you have no ground side then you will have to check the ground circuit at the computer. if there is none then you may have an injector driver gone bad. if you have ground at the computer but not at the injector then check the wiring between the two.

look for a bad ground, you can try running a new ground from the battery to the body, i had an 89 corsica that would not fire until i ran the new ground wire.
