Yes it has a heater core. Both the blower motor and H core are under the dash, passenger side, just to right of center dash.

My heater in my 2002 dodge dakota quiet working

do you mean you have no heat or no blower motor working.for the heat make sure the cooling system is full .then check the heater hoses to see if they are the same temp with the engine at operating temp.if not then you probably have a plugged heater core that will need replacing or you can try to unplug it by disconnecting the heater hoses and connect spare hoses to the spiggots and pour clr into the heater core and let it sit for 30-60 minutes.flush out and reconnect heater hoses and run to operating temp and long has it been since the thermostat has been changed.if its the blower motor check the fuses.if they are good then try tapping the blower motor to see if it starts to work if so then you will need to replace the blower motor.if not then you will have to check the motor resistor as these go bad often.

Where is the heater shut off valve located on a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant

The part you need is a dealer stocking part. There is an electric motor that turns heater core on and off. It's located under the dash to the left of the glove box. If you unhook the top of the glove box (push it to one side and gently pull it down) you should see it to the left of the blower motor housing. Some disassembly required.
The part will cost about $120 to $180. part number is #MR958603. I saved money by purchasing it on line. It is a stocking part at most Mitsubishi dealers. Once you pull the glove box out and remove the bottom half of the dash all the way across, you should be able to gain access to the motor to replace it. Caution: if you do not put everything back in correctly and tie/tape it all back down carefully in the correct places you will have lots of under the dash noises when you are done. I do not think there is much chance for a recall on a car that is so old. It is not uncommon for an 8 year old part fail. Some Galant owners were able to get there cars repainted when the clear coat came off. But again, it is too late for the rest of us.

No heat. blows but not hot

same problem here. so far ive determined that the car has the right amount of coolant, and the engine is running at the right temp the fans turn on and off and the thermostat seems to work correctly. someone advised the problem was the heater shut off motor but I dont know where it is or how to check it yet, anyone? also the car did make some noise from the blower motor so maybe the heater core is blocked with leaves or someting, ill check all before i bring it to the dealer.

I also ran into this problem on my 2002 Galant. I've found that the heater control value tends to get stuck on these vehicles, especially when the heat has not been used all summer. It will make a clicking noise from behind the dash when it fails. This is a common problem. See
for more information.

No heat, heater core is good, blower moter works

Check the operation of the heater control valve. If it doesn't open up no heat. If the cable moves the control on the valve take the valve off and check it manually. The lever may work but the valve still doesn't open.

My 2002 Galant is leaking water inside my car on the drivers side

Your heater core is leaking. I'm guessing that when you turn on the vents for heat or a/c, you are probably getting vapor/steam inside the car. If this is the case, you need to have your heater core replaced.
