Is this a 4 cylinder engine or a V-6?If it's a 4 cylinder,it's going to be the last spark plug on the drivers side.If it's a V-6,it will be located in the back, towards the firewall,1st one on the passenger side.

A miss under load on a Focus is usually a bad or failing coil on one or more of the plugs. Also how old are the spark plugs?

What causes a cylinder to mis-fire (or not fire, whichever is the proper term for it)? I went to a friend of mine's house who has a code reader, because the service engine soon light came on, and when...

is the code P0304?

just to clarify the passenger side of the engine compartment is the right side, the drivers side is the left side. I know it is backwards. It is easier to refer to the right/left as passenger/driver so everyone is on the same page. The cylinders from passenger side to drivers side are 1-2-3-4

I think the covers you are referring to are the coils. There should be two coils and two wires. The coils are usually held in place with a bolt(s). A 10mm socket is the normal size socket used to remove the bolt(s). Once the bolt is removed and the connector is unplugged you should be able to pull up on the coil and it will come out.

There are a couple of things you can check. The first thing would be two remove the spark plug wire from the number four plug. check for spark out of the plug wire with a spark tester (available at your local parts store) if there is spark than you may have an injector issue or a mechanical issue (possibly low compression).

If there is no spark than remove the spark plug wire from the coil and check for spark out of the coil. If there is no spark out if the coil than swap the two coils and see if there is spark. If there is spark than replace the coil without spark. I know that is a little confusing so if you need me to clarify a little I can, just let me know.

Let me know how that pans out. If you have any question let me know.

How to replace coolant sensor

Find your oil cap, the top row of spark plugs will be next to it. The coolant sensor is right next to the fourth spark plug, counting from left to right. All you do is unscrew the sensor, and screw the new one back in. Be sure not to screw the new sensor in too tight!!! Look at the diagram for clarification.

Location of spark plugs

The spark plugs are located in the front upper half of the motor (4 of them). Each spark plug has a spark plug wire connected to it. The spark plug wires run from the drivers side of the engine to the spark plug so just follow the wires to each of the spark plug locations.

Not starting after replacing plugs and leads

This type of distributorless ignition system uses a “waste spark” method of spark distribution. Each cylinder is paired with the cylinder that is opposite it (1-4 or 2-3). Look closely next to towers on coil pack assembly they are numbered.

Truck is missing

While The Truck Is Off You Can Unplug One Of The Spark Plug Wires Then Turn It On If It Runs The Same You've Found The cylinder.
Its Directly Under That Spark Plug Most Likely You'll Just Need New Plugs.
