You have an 8-cylinder engine and one of the cylinders is not working consistently. It could be several reasons. Spark plug, ignition wire, or burned exhaust valve are some possibilities. If the truck is rear wheel drive, #7 is the second cylinder up from the driver. You can pull the spark plug out with a socket set to see if it looks bad. If you're not handy, ask a friend to help. Would a fuel tank for a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero work for a 2000 year. 2.4L 4 cylinder? If not where could I purchase a new one for my year?

They don't appear to be the same. I can't even find a part number for the 2000 year on Rock Auto or Auto Zone's websites. This may be a dealer only item or you can pick one up from the local salvage yard. There are also some fuel tank repair kits and patches out there if you only have a little hole to patch up.

Service now engine light

Cars now days are funny. Any little thing not right in the massive amounts of sensors will throw a check engine light. Have the vehicle brought to your local Auto Zone for a free diagnostic check. It could be something as simple as the gas cap is not on tight. Auto Zone will check it out for free. ------------------- as per the codes from the diagnostic check you can get the exact faulty part or location of the fault. ------------- thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

96 Chrysler LHS shuts off when I slow down

IF IT WAS A FUEL FILTER IT WOULD ACT LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME. GO TO AUTO ZONE OR ADVANCED PART STORE AND THEY WILL SCAN IT FOR FREE.BECAUSE IT COULD BE A EGR VALVE STICKING OR A THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR OR A {A.I.S MOTOR].
