This could be the instrument cluster or more likely the sending unit has gone bad. The sending unit is located in the tank and is part of the fuel pump assembly. It is a fairy intensive job. A normal shop will charge around 600-700 dollars to fix this. It may be easier to reset the mileage counter every time you fill up and then always fill up before the 250 mile marker. I hope this helps!

08 chrysler sebring touring sedan what could cause it to lose power & die when driving 55+mph.

This almost seems like the vent on the gas tank is not allowing air in the tank as the fuel level drops. When the suction in the tank gets too high, no fuel flows.

Fuel pump sensor on Mazda atenza 2005 reading empty when car still has 1/4 tank of gas left.Car cuts out will sensor get worse or can I keep my car above 1/4 to stop car cutting out

Replace the fuel pump assembly. The in tank fuel pumps also have the fuel gauge built into the same assembly.

Please verify this through a parts store but that is my initial thought on this problem.

GOOD LUCK

My gas light not working and it cut off wfen i get to 1/4 tank

By gas light I am assuming you are talking about your gas gauge that tells you how much gas you have. This is probably your fuel pump level sensor. The fuel pump has a float mounted on the sending unit which floats to the top of your tank when it's full and gradually decends into the tank as you use up your gas. Most commonly, the float builds up residue that in your tank which causes it to stick in one place which can explain why it's cutting off at a 1/4 tank. I hope this helps you solve the problem.

1999 jeep wrangler guages went crazy

Put a volt meter on the battery itself and take a reading when it is doing that. If charge rate is over 14v the alternator may be working but the output is not being cut down to "useful voltage" You may have a regulator problem.

Gas meter does not work.

no fluid on ground right?then it must be your float on your fuel pump.drain gas from tank and take both ''straps'' off.remove both fuel lines.be carefull some gas is still in lines.on the top of tank there will be a wire connector.unplug it,remove tank from under car.remove bolts on the fuel pump.you might be able to buy float sepertly.if not you might have to buy the it as one unit.

1993 sentra jerking problems.

I wanted to just give a suggestion...do you go to the same gas station to get gas? My sentra ran horrible because I kept going to this same gas station. My gas would get low and it would start cutting off and trying to cut off. I let my fuel go to almost empty and then went to another gas station to fill up. It hasnt cut of for about 6 months now and I havent returned to that gas station.
