Geez! I'm confused, no lights on dash and power steering seems to be fine, fan works and a/c works. I found the belt actually broken. It seems to be right behind the fan belt. thanks for your help. Just trying to problem solve without taking it to the mechanic and paying too much.

Thanks. this makes sense. I will look tomorrow. Will it damage the vehicle with only one belt operating for a while?

There are 4 belts on the landcruiser...the air-conditioning belt, the power steering belt, the alternator belt and the fan belt.............

it's not the fan or a/c belt. How do I know which one is broken?

If ti was the alternator belt, you would see a charhe light or battery light on the dash, and the vehicle would not start after a while, as the battery is not charging......and with the power steering, you would notice it harder to turn thr steering wheel, as it is not being power assisted....

Well, there is a model where there are 2 belts for the fanbelt, as 1 belt was not sufficient.. I actually thought it may have been the earlier model, but it might be that one....grab a torch and if you look down at the pulley, you will notice 2 grooves, one for each belt.........see how that goes

NO, it should be fine, but it does depend on the conditioin of that belt, if the one remaining belt is showing signs of wear, you should replace one at least, however, if it is ok, it should be ok temporarily.........let me know how you go.....happy motoring

My Echo makes a squealing noise randomly when driving & airconditioner is turned off?

Your serpentine belts tension is loose or the belt is going hard. Check the tension on the tensioner pulley and condition of belt.
The belt is slipping on your accessory pulleys when a load is placed on them such as power steering, alternator and clutch fan.

Fan for heater/air conditioner quit working suddenly

its the blower motor resistor that is faulty or the blower motor resistor wire connector that has a bad connection.Wiggle the wire connector going to the resistor with the ignition switch and the fan switch in the on position and if the fan comes on then the connection is bad but, if it does'nt come on then the resistor is faulty.

How can i troubleshoot engine over heating

If the Fan is not working, check the radiator fan belt, (in some cars like Benz s500 yr 2000, it has it's own belt for sure), it might have been broken , check the fuse also, take your time to look on the connecting wires to make sure none is cut, that must solve the problem, your radiator must fan must be working.

2003 subaru forester makes noise when airconditioner comes on. Is it the fan belt

What kind of sound? If it squeals then the fan belt needs tightening or replacing.
If the sound is the engine increasing in speed when the compressor engages then that's normal.

Replaced blower resistor now nothing works!

I believe the compressor may be locked up burning the belt as it passes. Take it to your most trusted mechanic for a further diagnosis.

Belt slips off

let me get this right. tensioner, waterpump, and airconditioner. Too many parts replaced. 1999 plymouth voyager has a harmonic balancer that will cause it to slip off. No matter what weather conditon you encounter it should never slip off. I'm 1000% its going to be that.
