How do I remove the center console in my 2000 Monte Carlo? I am trying to replace the cigarette lighter(bad element).

First check in the cubby area of your center console to see if there are any screws holding it down. If there are, remove those. Now, this is where it gets odd. There should only be some clips holding it in, and it should pop right out with a little pressure. Worse comes to worse you can always contact the manufacturer and see what they say. But most cigarette sockets can be removed by first removing the outer ring, and then pulling out. Sorry for the two different answers, but it's always good to explore more than one option if at all possible.

Monte carlo 2000 power steering hard going to right

Take it to a front end shop and have it checked out. Could be any number of things which, if you are asking this question here, you probably are not equipped to fix by yourself.

Cigarette lighter in car not working

Have you checked he fuse for the lighter.? If the fuse is good, the lighter maybe bad. this is an easy replacement if you can get to it. just remove the wire, unscrew the outer part of the lighter. remove the inner part from the front. to replace with a new one, just reverse the proceedure. you can purchase these most auto part stores.

Additional fuses are in the underhood electrical centers on the driver’s and passenger’s sides of the engine compartment. Check your 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo - Owners Manual.

Hope helps (remember rated this).

Cigarette lighter not working

Have you tried plugging something like a phone charger into the lighter socket to make sure there is power there to start with ?

If there is power then either the cigar lighter element is shot or there is a bad joint which is breaking down when the cigar lighter load is applied
