2005 RL Hands free link will not disconnect. No radio

I would try a hard reset. This is done by turning the key on, disconnecting the battery cables, isolating them from the battery posts and connecting them with a jumper wire. This will clear the power from all the capacitors in the audio and HFL systems and hopefully reset them. Leave the cables jumped together for 20 minutes and recheck. Make sure you have your radio and navi codes handy as you will need them to get past the anti theft functions.

I have an acura MDX 2006 - fully loaded. The problem i have is that suddenly the bluetooth has stopped working. I checked with the dealer and they quoted about 1000 to replace the module. can anyone please...

Do you mean the Hands Free Link that pairs your phone with the audio system? If so, then it sounds like your HFL board has died. I have the same vehicle and the same problem. A new board costs about $200 online (part # 39770-S3V-A61ZB; there's also a 39770-S3V-A61ZA but it costs ~$80 more and as near as I can tell the only difference is that it's a different color, but since you can't see it, no sense in paying extra for that) and is located in the compartment in the ceiling just above the rearview mirror (where the two overhead lights, sunroof switch, and OnStar controls are). It's not terribly hard to pull out and replace the board yourself (there's a guy who posted a series of Youtube videos for doing it on a TL, but it's virtually the same procedure on the MDX, search for 'HFL removal and install").

How do I remove and replace my Alternator without taking it to the dealer?

Never need a dealer for anything--you do understand that !

A dealer is just a large repair shop, that charges
too much

How about the fact, that every country has several hundred thousand repair shops, why are they there

You just unplug & unbolt the wires & remove a few bolts,
same as with any other repair, assuming you have that interest,
experience & skills, to do yourself

No one can tell you how to work on a motor vehicle or make
a mechanic out of you

Problems with the HFL in the acura MDX

Super easy to fix yourself. Sit in y our backseat and pull as hard as you can on the air cond controls. Pull it straight back and hard enough to make you think it could break - it won't. You'll see the top pops off easily and the bottom needs a little coaxing, just keep pulling it straight back and massage it when it needs it. Once you get that off, there is a little black box right there with a bluetooth symbol on it. The cable is really easy to remove, if you have to use force, you're doing it wrong. There is a little pressure button on the cable that will release it from the unit. That unit is what needs replacing; this is a common problem among MDX's, apparently. Anyway, you can get this part on ebay by searching for "07-11 Acura MDX HFL" without the quotes. They run about $140, it looks like.

Good luck!

I have a 2006 TL in which the battery goes dead if car not used for a period of time (eg 1 week). Dealer told us to lock it no matter what to reduce drain and that drain would otherwise occur due to the...

first step is to have a load test done on the battery as batteries have a natural tendency to self discharge especially if a bit old
next is to have an auto electrician place an amp meter in the ground circuit to check the current flow that is causing the drain
it could be a faulty relay, glove box light , boot light but generally the very small drain to run immobilizers ,and the ecm will not affect a good battery as it is the regions of millionths of amps ( miliamps)

'07 Civic trunk won't close. How can I fix without taking to dealer?

Why would you even think of a dealer?
Go down the street to a local repair facility, if you can not figure it out for yourself. Look it over and I'am sure you can repair it yourself, or ask a friend etc, to check it out.

I don't have the code for the bluetooth system for my Acura MDX. Is there a reset button for the bluetooth setup?

If you got an owner's manual with the X, check page 172 for "clearing the system".

If not, the manual says to Press and releas the top of the TALK/BACK button. After the beep, say "System." The HFL will respond is, "System options are setup and clear." Press and release the "TALK/BACK button. After the beep, say "Clear." This process will clear all paired phones, all phonebook entries , and clear the passcode. Is this what you would like to do?" Press and release the TALK/BACK button. After the beep, say "Yes." The HFL will respond "Preparing to clear all paired phones, all phonebook entries, and the passcode. This may take up to 2 minutes to complete." Press and release the TALK/BACK button. After the beep, say "OK" to proceed or say "go back" or "Cancel. If you say "OK," after a short period of time, the HFL response is, "System has been cleared. Returning to the main menu."

Good luck.

make sure are using the same key that you used when you set the numbers they are numbered 1 and 2 . ( each key has its own settings stored) if you are then have the local dealer change the HFL unit we have had some problems with them in this model.
