If there are severely bent valves, and this happen in most cases, you need to remove the cylinder head, buy new valves, and the gasket. 16 valves cost around $250 and gasket $40. You need a valve spring compressor too. If you do the job by yourself it may cost you under $300. I hope not all the valves are bent, so you can solve the problem for less.

You should be fine if you just buy a new one and install it and make sure everything is lined up and aligned correctly and your straight.

Where is the water pump on a Grand am pontiac 1993

should be behind the timing casing on the front of of the engine block or possibly behind the third belt pully but they changed them on most year models try looking around behind the alternator near to where the pully joins the belt going to the engine block

My timing chain on my 1993 poniac sunbird broke while driving. Will my car run if i replace it?

Yes....recently most overhead cams and heads lock up at 0 degrees so not to break the pistons or valves.

Cant find water pump on pontiacsunbird2.0hofi 1993

What motor is in it? Probably the serpentine belt drives it and it looks like a small bulk off the side of the engine held there by 5 small bolts or so.. If it's a 2.4L DOHC 4 lunger, the water pump is driven by the timing chain.

Need info on how to change the alternator on 93 sunbird and maybe a diagram if possible

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.

CAUTION Failure to disconnect the negative cable may result in injury from the positive battery lead at the alternator, and may short the alternator and regulator during the removal process.

  1. Disconnect and label the two terminal plug and the battery leads from the rear of the alternator.

Detach the connector(s) from the rear of the alternator

3. Loosen the alternator mounting bolts. Push the alternator inwards, then slip the drive belt off the pulley.

Unfasten the lower rear mounting bolt

Loosen the rear upper retainer

4. Remove the mounting bolts, then remove the alternator from the vehicle.

Unfasten the front mounting bolt, then ...

... remove the alternator from the vehicle

To install:
  1. Place the alternator in its brackets and install the mounting bolts. Do not tighten them yet.
  2. Slip the belt back over the pulley. Pull outwards on the unit and adjust the belt tension (see Section 1). Tighten the mounting and adjusting bolts.
  3. Attach the electrical leads to the alternator.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.

Power steering pump squeels

Are you sure it is the pump itself or could it be the Belt?
Have you tried spraying some Wd40 or similar on the belt to see if it stops? if it does then tightening the grip may help but if its been slipping a long time then replacement is the only route.
Press the blue button please to appraise my FREE! effort.
